This innovative and certified cabinet system was developed by Ecosafe to prevent damage to people and materials caused by damaged battery cells. The model has external dimensions of 1100 x 1137 x 670 mm (height x width x depth). The internal dimensions are 820 x 1000 x 410 mm. The empty weight is 297 kg. The cabinet can be moved underneath with a pallet truck for better handling. The skirting board must be removed for this.

Robust materials ensure safety

The body consists of a steel construction with double thermally insulated triple walls. The thermal insulation panels limit thermal bridges and the outer walls are coated with a white epoxy paint. Inside, the safety storage cabinet is lined with melamine interior panels.

The safe storage of Li-ion batteries was the top priority for Ecosafe when developing this cabinet. The various safety mechanisms that protect the environment in the event of a battery fire are correspondingly extensive and sophisticated.

Fire resistance tested in the fire chamber test and certified as type 90 in accordance with EN 14470-1 - fire resistance over 105 minutes

If a Li-ion battery catches fire, the environment must be reliably protected from the resulting hazards. The battery safety storage cabinets from Ecosafe, such as the Ecosafe 793+LI safety storage cabinet presented here, have a fire resistance of 105 minutes in the event of a fire from the outside. For fires from the inside, a fire resistance of approx. 90 minutes was achieved. This time remains before the burning batteries cause damage to the environment. Within these 90 minutes, the surrounding area can be evacuated, initial countermeasures can be taken with suitable battery fire extinguishers and extinguishing agents and the fire department can be called to ensure optimum safety.

Double protection - for the environment and for the stored lithium-ion batteries

The Ecosafe models have undergone a double fire protection test. The F90 fire resistance rating applies both from the inside to the outside and from the outside to the inside. This means that the environment is protected if the batteries catch fire (protection from the inside out), but the Li-ion batteries are also protected if a fire breaks out around the safety storage cabinet (protection from the outside in).

Intelligent locking mechanisms for the cabinet doors

The door can be locked with an enclosed key. In the event of a fire in the cabinet, the thermal triggering of the automatic door closure ensures that the door closes automatically.

Exhaust air openings close automatically in the event of a fire

There is a Ø 100 mm ventilation duct for supply and exhaust air on the cabinet. At an interior temperature of approx. 70°C, the exhaust air openings are closed by the safety technology. In the event of a fire, a sealing material melts in the supply and exhaust air openings. The enclosure also has a fixing point for the earthing connection.

Certification and maintenance of the battery safety cabinet

There are currently no legal regulations for the storage of lithium batteries / lithium-ion batteries. However, by purchasing this storage system, you are optimally equipped for any regulations that may arise. Lithium-ion batteries are class 9 hazardous goods.

Extensive testing in accordance with EN 14470-1

These battery cabinet systems from Ecosafe are tested as safety cabinets in accordance with EN 14470-1 (fire resistance of safety cabinets for flammable liquids) and are also certified as type 90. This means that the fire resistance of the cabinets has been tested and classified over 90 minutes according to the type. In the fire chamber test, a fire resistance of 105 minutes was achieved when exposed to fire from the outside in accordance with ISO 834. Pictograms in accordance with ISO 3864, ISO 7010 and the European Directive 92/58/EEC are affixed to the cabinet.
