Suitable filling material for the battery storage and transport container
The appropriate filling material is required to use the PRIOPACK-T battery container. If you do not have any filling material, please order the variant "Incl. 2 x PRIOPACK filling material á 8 pieces". Further filling material can be found in the Accessories tab.
In buildings and storage facilities where lithium-ion batteries are stored, damaged cells can pose a high risk potential for employees and the operating and storage technology. Explosive fires in batteries ("thermal runaway") are difficult to control.
Size, structure and function of the container
The PRIOPACK-T container is available in two versions. The smaller version has external dimensions of 400 x 300 x 235 mm and internal dimensions of 307 x 208 x 144 mm (height x width x depth). The weight is 6.2 kg. The container is gray.
90 min fire resistant
The container is made of plastic and is lined on the inside with fire-resistant building boards and can therefore remain stable for 90 minutes in the event of a fire.
Sturdy lid with tension lock
The lid is firmly closed using tension straps and buckles. This type of closure ensures maximum safety during transportation. There is another fire protection plate under the lid that closes off the interior.
With vermiculite cushion: An additional plus for safety
Vermiculite filler packs must be ordered separately for this container. We recommend 2 to 3 packs per box. Vermiculite is non-flammable and further reduces thermal energy.
Suitable for transportation in accordance with SV 376 of the ADR and packaging instruction P 908
The PRIOPACK-T plastic transport box is specially designed for the transportation of damaged or defective lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries. It meets the requirements of Special Provision 376 (SV 376) of the ADR and packing instruction P 908, for example for cells that have leaked or degassed, have mechanical damage or have been identified as defective for safety reasons. If a diagnosis is not possible before transportation, these regulations also apply.
The PRIOPACK-T ensures that released electrolytes are absorbed and a non-conductive thermal insulation material protects the environment from dangerous heat development.
For storage, transportation and recycling in accordance with SV 377 of the ADR and packaging instruction P 909
The PRIOPACK-T is also suitable for the transportation of lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries for disposal or recycling. In accordance with special provision SV 377 and packing instruction P 909, packing guidelines of packing group II must be observed. In addition, restrictions apply with regard to the nominal energy and weight of the batteries to be transported.
Prototype transports according to SV 310 of the ADR and packing instruction P 910
For the transportation of prototypes of lithium-ion or lithium-metal batteries that have not yet passed all UN 38.3 tests, PRIOPACK-T meets the requirements of special provision SV 310 and packing instruction P 910, which, among other things, places requirements on packaging safety and dangerous goods dimensions in order to ensure safe transportation.
The manufacturer
PRIORIT AG from Hanau has stood for innovative, structural fire protection solutions for 20 years. The range extends from products for the structural protection of escape and rescue routes and solutions for tunnel construction to the protection of IT systems and the storage of hazardous substances.
PRIORIT manufactures fire-resistant components with decorative surfaces on the basis of non-combustible classified building materials and thus offers the possibility of harmonizing safety and design aspects.
Future-oriented
Lithium-ion batteries will be indispensable in all industrial applications in the coming years. However, if used improperly, batteries can pose a potential hazard during production, storage and transportation that should not be underestimated. By purchasing this storage container, you protect yourself against major financial losses right from the start.

That depends on various factors that need to be considered:
- size of the battery(ies)
- condition (e.g. non-critical, defective, critically defective or prototype)
- power
Transport boxes are available in many different sizes and specifications. The packaging group for which the box is suitable is indicated for each product.

Even if the batteries are not critical, remember to protect them from shocks and to order appropriate filling material if it is not already included in the box.
Yes. Should a battery reach a critical state and cause a fire, separating the batteries will prevent the fire from spreading and multiplying.
Generally, the insulation and protection material should line all sides of the container. The batteries are stored between individual layers.
We also have containers in our program that already have the protective material integrated into the outer wall. No further protective layer is necessary here.
The technical principles for storage and transportation solutions are very similar. The transport boxes are also subjected to extensive tests in accordance with ADR (drop test, fire test, etc.) to confirm compliance with the ADR regulations. The packaging regulations are extensive and regulated by law.
There are currently no comparable regulations for storage. Nevertheless, manufacturers of storage boxes regularly carry out appropriate tests.
The right container depends on the type and size of the battery to be shipped or stored.

The transportation of batteries is subject to ADR regulations.
The number, size and weight, energy density and condition of the batteries are crucial parameters for finding a suitable transport container for lithium-ion batteries. The selection process is complex and should be carried out by appropriately trained personnel. We have a trained hazardous materials officer on our team. Please feel free to contact us.
Plastic containers are cheaper but not as durable as metal containers. They are suitable, for example, for non-critical batteries, defective batteries, prototypes and end-of-life batteries. They can be used for both storage and transportation.
Metal containers are required, for example, when dealing with critically defective batteries.
The exact packaging instructions for these cases can be found in the ADR or by consulting a certified hazardous materials specialist.
To date, there are no legal requirements for the storage of lithium-ion batteries, which does not mean that they should be stored without suitable protective measures.
It is best to check with your insurer to find out which measures they recognize as suitable in the event of a claim.
For example, a suitable box could already be recognized as spatial separation.
