Shipping containers for Li-ion batteries with packaging group II certification
Li-ion shipping containers certified according to packaging group II are approved for substances with medium hazard potential. In order to achieve this classification, many test requirements must be met. For example, the transport unit, i.e. the container and the lithium-ion batteries inside, must be able to withstand drops of 1.2 m without damage. In contrast to the transport containers of packaging group I, however, use for defective lithium-ion batteries is not permitted.
Certification is carried out by BAM in real tests
The safety of the transport and shipping containers is confirmed on the basis of real tests by the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) and the certificate is issued accordingly.

Use transport containers of packaging group 2 PyroBubbles®
The Lio Guard transport containers in packaging group 2 are ideal for use in combination with the Pyrobubbles from Genius. In the event of a fire, this extinguishing agent for rechargeable battery fires creates a closed and thermally insulating layer around the source of the fire, i.e. the burning lithium-ion rechargeable battery or lithium battery. Even in the event of a chain reaction (thermal runaway), the surrounding area is reliably protected. This means that not only intact, but also defective rechargeable batteries and batteries can be transported without any problems using the Lio Guard containers from Genius packaging group 2.
