Product information „Düperthal BATTERY standard line M, Lagerschrank“
This safety cabinet is an innovative storage system for lithium-ion batteries. Düperthal has developed this innovative and DIN-certified cabinet system to prevent damage caused by failing battery cells. Fumes in particular can cause permanent damage to surrounding electronic devices. Düperthal’s BATTERY line protects you right from the start against this and other damage that can be caused by lithium-ion battery cells experiencing thermal runaway. Please contact us if you are interested, so that we can provide you with a bespoke quote
It is precisely the tested fire resistance from the inside out that makes this system particularly suitable for use in industrial settings.
Alarm signalling for Düperthal battery safety cabinets
As an option, the Düperthal system can be fitted with an alarm relay via a potential-free contact. Visual and audible signals, as well as alarm modules, are also available. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require these systems: info@lion-care.com or +49 7151 256 4811.
Size, storage capacity and function of the safety cabinet
The standard Düperthal BATTERY-Line range is a storage system designed exclusively for lithium-ion batteries. The M model has external dimensions of 594 x 612 x 2,051 mm (width x depth x height). Please refer to the dimensions sheet, which can be found in the downloads section, for the internal dimensions. The empty weight is 310 kg, with a maximum internal cabinet volume of 0.43 m³. The cabinet is designed to be accessible from underneath by a pallet truck for easier handling.
In the M version, the safety cabinet has 4 storage levels. At the base of the cabinet there is a floor drip tray with a capacity of 11 l, which can collect any spilled liquids. The door is made of sheet steel in the colour PANTONE 389 C (yellow-green). Other colours are available on request to ensure the cabinets blend in perfectly with your premises. Adjustable feet ensure level compensation and allow for optimal compensation of uneven floor surfaces.
High, patented level of security
The door remains open in any position, but a cylinder lock with permanent locking mechanism can secure the hinged door. At temperatures of approximately 50 °C or above, the thermal trigger for the automatic door-closing mechanism inside the cabinet ensures that the door closes automatically. A backdraft seal ensures that the door can no longer be opened. The fire service can open the cabinet doors using an emergency release mechanism on the top. The cabinet is fitted with an exhaust pipe (NW110) with an NW75 adapter. When the temperature outside the cabinet reaches approximately 70 °C, the safety system closes the exhaust vents. Inspection hatches are fitted above the false ceiling; these turn red when the exhaust vents close. In the event of a fire, the flue gas is ‘forced’ into the cabinet and channelled to the outside via the exhaust connection. The flue gas can thus be channelled in a controlled manner to a safe location outside.
Certification and guidelines
There are currently no legal regulations governing the storage of lithium batteries / lithium-ion batteries. However, by purchasing this storage system, you are optimally prepared for any future regulations. Lithium-ion batteries are classified as Class 9 dangerous goods. These cabinet systems are tested as safety cabinets in accordance with DIN. Type tests have been carried out by MPA/TÜV SÜD in accordance with DIN EN 14470-1 (fire resistance of safety cabinets for flammable liquids), DIN EN 16121 and DIN EN 16122 (test methods for determining the strength, durability and stability of storage units for residential and non-residential use) as well as DIN 31000 on damage prevention in accordance with VdS 3103:2015-06. The BATTERY-Line safety cabinets are also certified as Type 90 in accordance with EN 14470-1. This means that the fire resistance of the cabinets has been type-tested and classified as exceeding 90 minutes.
Delivery and maintenance
The cabinets are to be delivered to the point of use. Prior to delivery, the customer’s requirements for delivery will be checked. In some circumstances, additional lifting equipment or similar may be required to install the cabinets. Please contact us before placing your order to discuss any special requirements. Safety equipment must be inspected once a year by a competent person in accordance with TRBS 2103, in compliance with the BetrSichV, TRGS 526, TRGS 510, ArbStättV and the maintenance interval specified by the manufacturer.
The manufacturer
Düperthal Sicherheitstechnik GmbH & Co. KG is a company based in Karlstein am Main. The company specialises in storage technology for hazardous goods and introduced the first self-closing safety cabinet in 1972.
Looking to the future
Lithium-ion batteries will become indispensable in all industrial applications in the coming years. However, if used improperly, these batteries can pose a significant potential hazard during manufacture, storage and transport. By purchasing this cabinet system, you protect yourself against significant financial losses right from the start. International customers, including those from the automotive and energy supply sectors, place their trust in this tried-and-tested technology.

FAQ
Standard security cabinets are designed for indoor use, so they cannot be used outdoors.
The fire protection panels installed in the cabinets contain gypsum, which contains a lot of water, which expands when frozen. This deforms the panels. It can no longer be guaranteed that such a cabinet is still sealed or can withstand an explosion.
If you already have a suitable room that is structurally fire-resistant, then you do not necessarily need a safety cabinet to contain the fire.
However, please do not forget that the damage caused by a battery fire involves immense and also toxic contamination, the disposal of which can quickly lead to high costs.
In addition, you may not be able to continue working as usual until the damage has been finally repaired - depending on the location of the damage.
