Product information „Düperthal BATTERY standard line M, storage cabinet“

This safety cabinet is an innovative storage system for lithium-ion rechargeable batteries/lithium-ion batteries. To prevent damage caused by faulty battery cells, Düperthal has developed this innovative and DIN-certified cabinet system. Smoke gases in particular can cause permanent damage to surrounding electronic devices. The BATTERY line from Düperthal protects you from the outset against this and other damage that can be caused by continuous (thermal runaway) lithium-ion battery cells. If you are interested, please contact us so that we can prepare an individual quote for you

. The tested fire resistance from the inside to the outside makes this system particularly interesting for use in industrial areas.

Alarm forwarding for Düperthal battery safety cabinets

Optionally, the Düperthal system can be equipped with an alarm forwarding function via a potential-free contact. Visual and acoustic signals and remote signalling modules are also possible. Please contact us if you have any questions about these systems: info@lion-care.com or +49 7151 256 4811.

Size, storage capacity and function of the safety cabinet

The standard range of the Düperthal BATTERY Line is a pure storage system for lithium-ion batteries. The M model has external dimensions of 2091 x 594 x 612 mm (height x width x depth). Please refer to the dimension sheet in the download area for the internal dimensions. The empty weight is 310 kg with a maximum internal cabinet volume of 0.43 m³. The cabinet can be moved with a pallet truck for easier handling.
The M version of the safety cabinet has 4 storage levels. At the bottom of the cabinet there is a 11-litre drip tray that can collect any liquids that may leak out. The door is made of sheet steel in the colour PANTONE 389 C (yellow-green). Other colours are available on request to ensure that the cabinets blend in perfectly with your company's visual identity. Adjustable feet ensure that the cabinet is level and that any unevenness in the floor can be optimally compensated for.

High, patented safety level

The door remains open in any position, but a cylinder lock with permanent locking can close the hinged door. At temperatures above approx. 50 °C, the thermal release of the automatic door closure in the cabinet ensures that the door is locked automatically. A backdraft lock ensures that the door cannot be opened. The fire brigade can open the cabinet doors using an emergency release on the top. There is an exhaust pipe with NW110 and an NW75 adapter on the cabinet. At a temperature of approx. 70 °C outside the cabinet, the exhaust air openings are closed by the safety technology. Inspection cut-outs are incorporated above the false ceiling, which turn red when the exhaust air openings are closed. In the event of a fire, the smoke gas is "compressed" in the cabinet and directed to the outside via the exhaust air connection. The smoke gas can thus be directed in a controlled manner to an unendangered location outside.

Certification and guidelines

There are currently no legal regulations for the storage of lithium batteries/lithium-ion batteries.  However, by purchasing this storage system, you are optimally equipped for any regulations that may arise. Lithium-ion batteries are classified as Class 9 dangerous goods. These cabinet systems are tested as safety cabinets in accordance with DIN. Type tests have been carried out by MPA/TÜV SÜD in accordance with DIN EN 14470-1 (fire resistance of safety cabinets for flammable liquids), DIN EN 16121 and DIN EN 16122 (test methods for determining the strength, durability and stability of storage furniture for residential and non-residential areas) and DIN 31000 damage prevention in accordance with VdS 3103:2015-06. CE marks are also available. BATTERY-Line security cabinets are also certified as Type 90 in accordance with EN14470-1. This means that the fire resistance of the cabinets has been tested and classified for over 90 minutes according to the type.

Delivery and maintenance

The cabinets are delivered to the place of use. The customer's delivery requirements are checked before delivery. Additional lifting equipment or similar may be required to set up the cabinets.  Please contact us before placing your order to discuss any special requirements. Safety equipment must be inspected once a year by a qualified person (competent person) in accordance with TRBS 2103, in accordance with BetrSichV, TRGS 526, TRGS, 510, ArbStättV and the maintenance interval specified by the manufacturer.

The manufacturer

Düperthal Sicherheitstechnik GmbH & Co. KG is a company based in Karlstein am Main. The company specialises in storage technology for hazardous goods and introduced the first self-locking safety cabinet in 1972.

Future

-

oriented

Lithium-ion batteries will become indispensable in all industrial applications in the coming years. However, if used improperly, the batteries can pose a potential hazard that should not be underestimated during manufacture, storage and transport. By purchasing this cabinet system, you are protecting yourself against major financial losses right from the start. International customers from the automotive and energy supply sectors, among others, rely on this proven technology.

FAQ

Standard security cabinets are designed for indoor use, so they cannot be used outdoors.
The fire protection panels installed in the cabinets contain gypsum, which contains a lot of water, which expands when frozen. This deforms the panels. It can no longer be guaranteed that such a cabinet is still sealed or can withstand an explosion.

If you already have a suitable room that is structurally fire-resistant, then you do not necessarily need a safety cabinet to contain the fire.

However, please do not forget that the damage caused by a battery fire involves immense and also toxic contamination, the disposal of which can quickly lead to high costs.

In addition, you may not be able to continue working as usual until the damage has been finally repaired - depending on the location of the damage.
