Product information „LOXXER Ladeschrank LOX12“
The charging cabinet has been specially developed for the safe charging of lithium-ion batteries, with a focus on batteries for bicycles and scooters. It comprises a total of 12 separate lockers, which offer sufficient space to safely store a battery with its charger and, optionally, a bicycle helmet. Each locker is fitted with an individually programmable combination lock, making the cabinet particularly ideal for travellers and commuters with electric bicycles or scooters. The charging cabinet thus offers these users a secure place to charge and store their batteries whilst on the move.
Dimensions and features of the LOX12 locker
The LOX12 charging cabinet weighs 400 kg and has external dimensions of 1,042 x 765 x 1,938 mm (W x D x H, excluding the alarm). The total height, including the alarm module, is 2,100 mm. The power supply is 400 V, and the maximum load per locker is 70 kg. The dimensions of a single locker are 480 x 240 x 650 mm. The cabinet should be stored at an ambient temperature of 5–35 °C and a relative humidity of 30–70 per cent.
Technical specifications of the charging cabinet:
Fire-retardant materials to allow sufficient time for further action to be taken
The cabinet is made from fire-retardant materials, which means that, in the event of a fire, it protects the batteries and other items stored inside for a considerable period of time.
The cabinet itself is constructed from materials that provide 60 minutes’ fire resistance.
A comprehensive detection system is fitted as standard, including potential-free contacts for connection to the building management system
The cabinet is fitted with a smoke detector and a temperature detector, which can detect the first signs of a fire hazard. Connection to fire alarm systems or the building management system is possible.
An optional aerosol fire suppression system provides additional safety
In the event of a fire, the storage cabinet can be fitted with an aerosol suppression system, which helps to combat the fire and prevent it from spreading. The aerosol extends the operational time to 90 minutes
Features of the lockers and the integrated sockets
Each of the 12 lockers is fitted with a combination lock and offers sufficient space for a lithium-ion battery, a charger and a cycle helmet or items of similar size. Each locker also features two 230 V sockets with a maximum current of 16 A to enable the batteries to be charged. The internal dimensions of the lockers are approx. 480 x 240 x 650 mm (HxWxD).
Adjustable levelling feet
The cabinet is fitted with adjustable feet so that it can be easily positioned to ensure optimum stability. There is also a removable (magnetic) plate on the underside for added flexibility
Active ventilation ensures safe operation of the system
To regulate heat build-up inside the cabinet, it is fitted with active ventilation. This ensures that the batteries remain within safe temperature limits.
A pressure relief valve releases pressure in the event of a deflagration inside the cabinet
A pressure relief valve, designed for the event of a battery explosion, opens in the event of a fire and dissipates the energy accordingly.
Priority areas and operation in the event of smoke detection
The operation of the charging cabinet is designed to ensure the safety of users and the integrity of the stored batteries. The five priority areas comprise:
- Ensuring safe operation
- Detection of smoke and fire
- Raising the alarm in the event of danger
- Activation of the aerosol fire suppression system (if ordered)
- Controlling lithium fires within the cabinet to prevent them from spreading
In the event of smoke detection, the charging cabinet carries out a series of predefined steps to minimise potential hazards:
- Triggering an audible and visual alarm to warn users.
- Interruption of the battery charging process.
- Deactivation of active ventilation to prevent the further spread of smoke or fire.
- Activation of the aerosol fire suppression system (optional) to contain the fire and ensure the safety of the surrounding area. The aerosol must be ordered separately!
- Overall, the charging cabinet offers a safe and reliable solution for charging and storing lithium-ion batteries for bicycles and scooters, with its technical features and safety measures minimising potential risks.
General guidelines for battery storage
There are currently no legal regulations governing the storage of lithium batteries / lithium-ion batteries. Only VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH provides general safety rules for damage prevention in its publication VdS 3103: 2019-06 (03). It is advisable to clarify your requirements with your property insurer in advance.

FAQ
Standard security cabinets are designed for indoor use, so they cannot be used outdoors.
The fire protection panels installed in the cabinets contain gypsum, which contains a lot of water, which expands when frozen. This deforms the panels. It can no longer be guaranteed that such a cabinet is still sealed or can withstand an explosion.
If you already have a suitable room that is structurally fire-resistant, then you do not necessarily need a safety cabinet to contain the fire.
However, please do not forget that the damage caused by a battery fire involves immense and also toxic contamination, the disposal of which can quickly lead to high costs.
In addition, you may not be able to continue working as usual until the damage has been finally repaired - depending on the location of the damage.
