Product information „PRIOCAB-Li EI90 2-door charging cabinet“
Buildings and storage facilities where lithium-ion batteries are kept can pose a high risk to employees and to operating and storage equipment. Explosive fires caused by batteries ("thermal runaway") are very difficult to control. The PRIOCAB-Li EI90 BAT 2-door standing cabinet is suitable for storing and charging lithium-ion batteries and has been tested to provide 90 minutes of fire protection from both inside and outside. This storage system can be customised to suit individual requirements, combining design and safety aspects.
Size, structure and function of the free-standing cabinet – with many connection options
The PRIOCAB-Li EI90 safety cabinet has external dimensions of 2048 x 1148 x 549 mm, or 2148 x 1148 x 549 mm with control unit. The internal dimensions are 1804 x 1004 x 440 mm (height x width x depth) and the total weight is approx. 650 kg.
Can be customised on request
The free-standing cabinet is made of a non-combustible panel material. The standard colour is light grey (similar to RAL 7035), but can be customised on request. The housing, including the decorative surface, has tested fire insulation and also exhibits high mechanical resistance.
Lockable thanks to swivel lever lock
A swivel lever with double-bit cylinder protects against unauthorised access. The smooth-running, free-swinging doors open at an angle of approx. 180° into the body.
Fire protection seals limit the spread of fire
In the event of a fire, the surrounding fire protection seal foams up automatically. Despite the integrated ventilation system, consisting of a smoke detector and fan, the doors should always remain closed.
Cable entries are available ex works
There are cable entries at the top and bottom of the storage cabinet, which make it possible to install additional components, such as fire detectors, in the cabinet. Power strips can be installed ex works. Please note the different variants.
Load capacity up to 75 kg per shelf
The storage cabinet is delivered with 4 height-adjustable mesh shelves. These have a load capacity of 75 kg each. Additional mesh shelves can be ordered as accessories. Please note that the shelves can be loaded to approx. 70% of their capacity.
Wheel-accessible base for easy transport
The base is wheel-accessible with a height of 100 mm. A removable skirting board is installed in front of the base.
0-4 power strips with 10 sockets each and additional cable entries
Depending on the model, the cabinet has 0-4 power strips with 10 sockets each. This allows numerous batteries to be charged directly in the cabinet. Cable entries at the top and bottom make it possible to install additional charging options, sensors or other technology in the security cabinet.
Additional safety thanks to smoke detector, control unit and fire suppression system (optional)
The integrated ventilation system consists of a smoke detector and fan. In the event of a fire, the control unit switches off the ventilation and the surrounding fire protection seal foams up automatically. The cabinet is not self-closing, which is why the doors should always remain closed. Please refer to the installation instructions under the "Downloads" tab. The optional aerosol extinguishing generator works even if the cabinet has been disconnected from the power supply. The extinguishing agent itself is environmentally and climate friendly and does not produce any environmentally hazardous by-products. A video of a fire test can be found under the "Videos" tab.
Certification and guidelines
The surface material is non-combustible according to classification A2 – s1, d0. The item has a fire resistance of over 90 minutes from the inside to the outside. The storage cabinet has been tested according to European (EN) and German (DIN) standards and has a Green Building Declaration according to LEED and DGNB. Please note that this item is not a self-closing safety cabinet.
VDS recommendation for the storage of Li-ion batteries
To date, there are no legal regulations for the storage of lithium batteries / lithium-ion batteries. Only VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH provides general safety rules for damage prevention in its publication VdS 3103 : 2019-06 (03). It is advisable to clarify the requirements with your property insurer in advance.

FAQ
Standard security cabinets are designed for indoor use, so they cannot be used outdoors.
The fire protection panels installed in the cabinets contain gypsum, which contains a lot of water, which expands when frozen. This deforms the panels. It can no longer be guaranteed that such a cabinet is still sealed or can withstand an explosion.
If you already have a suitable room that is structurally fire-resistant, then you do not necessarily need a safety cabinet to contain the fire.
However, please do not forget that the damage caused by a battery fire involves immense and also toxic contamination, the disposal of which can quickly lead to high costs.
In addition, you may not be able to continue working as usual until the damage has been finally repaired - depending on the location of the damage.
