Automated Fire Protection for E-Vehicles and Lithium-Ion Batteries
1. Brief Overview
The ecell-guard BASIC-System is an automated fire protection solution for controlled containment of fires in electric vehicles with lithium-ion batteries. Specifically developed for parking garages, underground car parks, workshops and charging areas, the system protects people, buildings and surrounding vehicles in the event of a battery fire – fully automatic and without manual intervention.
As soon as the integrated sensor system detects a beginning lithium-ion battery fire, a high-temperature resistant fire containment blanket is automatically laid over the vehicle within seconds. The blanket reduces the oxygen supply, blocks extreme heat and directs the resulting combustion gases in a controlled manner. This significantly minimizes the spread of the fire and limits structural damage.
The BASIC-System can be installed as a single system or multisystem and can be integrated into existing fire alarm systems. It represents a future-proof solution for increasing requirements in fire protection for e-mobility.
2. Scope of Delivery
The ecell-guard BASIC-System is delivered ready for installation and includes the following components:
1 × System box (ready for installation, including accessories)
1 × Fire containment blanket (pre-fabricated)
2 × Smoke & heat detectors
1 × Acoustic & optical signal indicator
1 × Input/Output module BX-O2I4
1 × Impact threshold
1 × Mounting kit
Note:
The scope of delivery of the ecell-guard BASIC-System does not include a fire alarm system.
It must be added separately, as it can be used for multiple systems in parallel.
3. Applications & Operating Conditions
The ecell-guard BASIC-System is suitable for:

Maximum vehicle dimensions per system:
- Width: 2.20 m (including side mirrors)
- Height: 2.10 m

The extended vehicle length (silhouette length) must not exceed 7.50 m, and the width must not exceed 5.50 m.
A fire alarm system (BMA) is required for operation (not included in the scope of delivery). A BMA can control up to 25 BASIC-Systems.
