Brief overview
The CEMO 8/5 LockEX 2.0 charging cabinets are compact safety cabinets designed for the stationary charging of lithium-ion batteries indoors. They are particularly suitable for workshops, industrial, service and storage areas where batteries need to be housed in a protected and physically segregated manner during storage and charging.
The fire- and explosion-resistant design combines passive fire protection measures with mechanical ventilation, fire detection and the LockEX 2.0 pressure relief system. Depending on the required level of safety and monitoring, the Basic, Premium and Premium Plus models are available. All three variants feature a 230 V charging infrastructure with 9 sockets and are designed for a permissible total energy capacity of 3 kWh.

The Basic version provides the basic equipment for safe storage and loading. Premium supplements the system, in particular, with an electrically powered smoke detector and a potential-free contact for integration into an existing security infrastructure. Premium Plus further extends the monitoring capabilities to include a temperature sensor, a display and options for alarm forwarding.
All three variants are also available either without feet or with stacking feet. The versions with stacking feet are wheelchair-accessible; the height and individual external dimensions vary accordingly.

Safety and protection features
The integrated fire detection system provides an audible warning should a fire be detected. Whilst the Basic version uses battery-powered smoke detectors, the Premium and Premium Plus versions feature mains-powered smoke detectors. Temperature monitoring is carried out via a thermal fuse in the Basic and Premium versions, and via a temperature sensor in the Premium Plus version.
The LockEX 2.0 locking system is designed to provide controlled pressure relief in the event of an explosive pressure build-up inside the cabinet. The spring mechanism allows the doors to open in a controlled manner to relieve pressure and then reclose automatically.
The fire propagation-preventing compartmentalisation levels help to limit the spread of fire between individual batteries or battery modules. In addition, the charging cabinets are fitted with mechanical ventilation and a door contact switch. When the door is open, the power supply is interrupted; the circuit is also switched off in the event of a critical build-up of heat.
The Premium version offers the option of connecting to an external safety or fire alarm system via a potential-free contact. The Premium Plus version adds extended temperature monitoring, a display and alarm forwarding. According to the manufacturer, this variant is designed to communicate via Wi-Fi or SMS.

Notes on use
The CEMO 8/5 LockEX 2.0 variants are designed as storage and charging cabinets for lithium-ion batteries and are intended for indoor installation. The integrated charging infrastructure provides nine 230 V sockets with a maximum total electrical power of 3,500 W / 16 A.
The doors should remain closed during the charging process. The integrated door contact switch cuts off the power supply if the door is opened. Specific use and installation should be carried out as part of the workplace risk assessment and in accordance with the relevant fire safety plan.

The fire protection panels installed in the cabinets contain gypsum, which contains a lot of water, which expands when frozen. This deforms the panels. It can no longer be guaranteed that such a cabinet is still sealed or can withstand an explosion.
If you already have a suitable room that is structurally fire-resistant, then you do not necessarily need a safety cabinet to contain the fire.
However, please do not forget that the damage caused by a battery fire involves immense and also toxic contamination, the disposal of which can quickly lead to high costs.
In addition, you may not be able to continue working as usual until the damage has been finally repaired - depending on the location of the damage.
