In buildings and storage facilities where lithium-ion rechargeable batteries are kept, damaged cells can pose a high risk to employees and to operating and storage equipment. Explosive fires caused by batteries ("thermal runaway") are very difficult to control. The FMplus battery storage cabinet from CEMO offers a suitable, economical entry-level solution for this. The battery storage cabinet is suitable for the short-term storage of smaller lithium-ion batteries.
The FMplus battery storage cabinet is available in three different sizes (US, S, L).
Size, structure and function of the storage cabinet
The FMplus S battery storage cabinet has 3 storage levels with a total weight of 47 kg. The external dimensions of the cabinet are 59 x 46 x 89 cm (W x D x H). The internal dimensions are 51 x 38 x 79 cm (W x D x H).
Numerous safety features
The lockable door with 3-point locking can be secured with a padlock (profile half cylinder, suitable for locking systems) if required. The sturdy, double-walled steel cabinet has a heat-insulating effect and the entire housing is cold smoke-proof thanks to additional door seals.
The built-in ventilation opening allows for connection to an exhaust pipe leading to the outside. The battery storage cabinet can be positioned and evacuated in an emergency up to a height of 8 to 9 cm. The standard smoke detector emits an acoustic signal in the event of a fire.
Possible uses of the FMplus S battery storage cabinet
The double-walled steel cabinet serves as a protective measure for medium-sized, new lithium batteries from power tools or garden tools, for example.

The FMplus battery storage cabinet has been tested in a battery fire test with power tool batteries.
The body of the FMplus battery storage cabinet is powder-coated in light grey (RAL 7035) and the door in light red-orange (RAL 2008).

There are currently no legal regulations for the storage of lithium batteries/lithium-ion batteries. Only VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH provides general safety rules for damage prevention in its publication VdS 3103 : 2019-06 (03). It is advisable to clarify your requirements with your property insurer in advance.

However, please do not forget that the damage caused by a battery fire involves immense and also toxic contamination, the disposal of which can quickly lead to high costs.
In addition, you may not be able to continue working as usual until the damage has been finally repaired - depending on the location of the damage.
