Storage capacity of the Düperthal BATTERY station line XL safety cabinet
The XL model has external dimensions of 2091 x 1194 x 612 mm (Height x Width x Depth). Please refer to the dimension sheet in the Downloads tab for internal dimensions. The empty weight is 540 kg with a maximum internal cabinet volume of 0.95 m³. The cabinet can be driven under with a pallet truck for easier handling.
54 Ah per stored cell approved
The maximum capacity of the individual lithium-ion cells stored in the cabinet is 54 Ah. Please note that the 54 Ah does not refer to the entire battery, since each battery consists of several cells. This value covers the majority of batteries used today. Each storage level has a load capacity of 75 kg. The bottom tray at the base of the cabinet has a volume of 22 l. A video of the conducted fire test can be found in the "Videos" tab.
One storage area per storage level
The XL version of the safety cabinet has four storage levels. This largest version is the type without a middle partition wall.
Also suitable for charging
All storage levels are equipped with four outlets, so the Düperthal BATTERY station line XL safety cabinet cannot be used solely for storage of Li-ion batteries, but can also charge them simultaneously - ideal for integration into the operational routine of many companies. The outlets are located on the right inner side of the battery safety cabinet. Maximum safety is combined here with optimized operating procedures.
Düperthal BATTERY station line XL battery cabinet - safety at the highest level
Safe storage of Li-ion batteries was the top priority in the development of this Düperthal cabinet. Accordingly, the various safety mechanisms are extensive and mature, protecting the environment in the event of a battery fire or even battery explosions.
Fire resistance F90 / Type 90 - 90 minutes of protection in case of fire
If a Li-ion battery catches fire, the surroundings must be reliably protected from the resulting hazards. Düperthal battery safety cabinets, such as the presented Düperthal BATTERY station line XL safety cabinet, have fire resistance F90 / Type 90, providing 90 minutes of protection before the burning batteries pose a danger to the environment. Within these 90 minutes, the area can be evacuated, using suitable battery fire extinguishers and extinguishing agents can take initial countermeasures and call the fire department to ensure optimal safety.
Double protection - for the environment and for stored lithium-ion batteries
Unlike many other safety cabinet manufacturers, Düperthal subjects its models to a double fire protection test. The fire resistance F90 applies both from inside to outside and from outside to inside. This means that both the environment is protected when the batteries catch fire (protection from inside to outside), and the Li-ion batteries are protected when a fire occurs in the cabinet’s surroundings (protection from outside to inside).
Intelligent locking mechanisms for cabinet doors
The door remains open in any position, but a cylinder lock with permanent locking can secure the leaf door. At a cabinet temperature of around 50°C, the automatic door closing thermally triggers to automatically close the door. A backdraft seal ensures the door can no longer be opened. The fire service can open the doors using an emergency release located on the top of the cabinet.
Exhaust openings automatically close from outside in case of fire
There is an exhaust pipe on the cabinet with NW110 adapter NW75. In case of a fire outside the cabinet, the exhaust openings are closed by safety technology at a room temperature of around 70°C. Above the false ceiling there are control cutouts that turn red when the exhaust openings close. In a fire inside, the smoke gases are “pushed” inside the cabinet and can be directed outside via the exhaust connection. Please note that the exhaust connection and the necessary materials are not included in the delivery or performance scope. The exhaust connection must be provided on site.
Containment trays hold back dangerous liquids
At the bottom of the battery cabinet there is a bottom containment tray capable of catching leaking liquids. Especially when batteries have a defect, environmentally hazardous liquids can escape. Lithium-ion batteries contain electrolytes that pose a danger to people and the environment. The containment tray integrated into the cabinet effectively holds this back.
Leveling ensures ideal stance
The leveling feet of the Düperthal BATTERY station line XL safety cabinet are adjustable and allow level adjustment. Accordingly, optimal stand of the battery cabinet can be ensured on almost any surface.
Customized adjustments and additional features available
Düperthal offers many customization options and extensive accessories for the Battery-Line safety cabinets, so you can tailor them perfectly to your company’s needs.
Cabinet doors available in more colors
The door is made of steel sheet in the color PANTONE 389 C (yellow-green). Other colors are available on request. This allows the cabinets to integrate optimally into your company.
Temperature monitoring, overload adapters and more
Via a potential-free contact, a connection to the fire alarm control panel can be established. Also certified pipe penetrations are optionally available. If loads are to be stored on the cabinet roof, load adapters for mounting are available to ensure that the fire resistance is not compromised.
Certification and maintenance of the battery safety cabinet
There are currently no legal regulations for the storage of lithium batteries / lithium-ion cells. By purchasing this storage system, you are optimally prepared for upcoming regulations. Lithium-ion batteries are considered hazardous goods of class 9.
Extensive testing according to DIN / EN 14470-1
These Düperthal battery cabinet systems are tested as safety cabinets according to DIN. There are type approvals by MPA/TÜV SÜD according to DIN EN 14470-1 (Fire resistance of safety cabinets for flammable liquids), DIN EN 16121 and DIN EN 16122 (Test procedures to determine the strength, durability and stability of containment furniture for residential and non-residential areas) as well as DIN 31000 damage prevention in the sense of VdS 3103:2015-06. CE marks are also present. The BATTERY line safety cabinets are further certified as Type 90 according to EN14470-1. This means that the fire resistance of the cabinets was tested and classified for 90 minutes by a type test.
Delivery and maintenance of the battery cabinets
Delivery of the cabinets is planned up to the place of use. Before delivery, the customer’s requirements for delivery are checked. In some cases, additional lifting equipment or similar may be required to install the cabinets. Please contact us before placing an order to discuss any special requirements.
Safety-related facilities must be inspected by a qualified person according to BetrSichV, TRGS 526, TRGS 510, ArbStättV and the maintenance interval specified by the manufacturer, once a year according to TRBS 2103.
The manufacturer Düperthal - a professional in the field of safety cabinets
Düperthal Sicherheitstechnik GmbH & Co. KG is a company based in Karlstein am Main. The company specializes in storage technology for hazardous goods and introduced the first self-closing safety cabinet in 1972.
Safe storage of lithium-ion batteries - increasingly important in the future
Lithium-ion batteries will be indispensable in all industrial applications in the coming years. However, when used improperly during production, storage, or transport, they can pose a significant hazard potential. By purchasing a suitable safety cabinet, you protect yourself from large financial damages that can arise, for example, from battery fires.

FAQ
Standard security cabinets are designed for indoor use, so they cannot be used outdoors.
The fire protection panels installed in the cabinets contain gypsum, which contains a lot of water, which expands when frozen. This deforms the panels. It can no longer be guaranteed that such a cabinet is still sealed or can withstand an explosion.
If you already have a suitable room that is structurally fire-resistant, then you do not necessarily need a safety cabinet to contain the fire.
However, please do not forget that the damage caused by a battery fire involves immense and also toxic contamination, the disposal of which can quickly lead to high costs.
In addition, you may not be able to continue working as usual until the damage has been finally repaired - depending on the location of the damage.
