Product information „ECOSAFE XL - storage/loading cabinet, 2-door“
Executive Summary
The ECOSAFE XL is a high-quality security cabinet for storage and optionally for charging lithium-ion batteries. Designed for professional use, it reliably protects against the risks of thermal runaway and reduces potential damage to people, buildings and operating facilities.
With a tested fire resistance of 90 minutes (Type 90) as well as standard-compliant fire tests, the cabinet offers comprehensive protection both from inside to outside and from outside to inside. This prevents a battery fire from spreading to the surroundings or external fires from affecting the cabinet contents.
The body consists of a high-quality steel construction with double-walled triple insulation. Integrated thermal insulation panels reduce thermal bridges, while the exterior surfaces are protected by a durable epoxy coating. The interior lining with melamine panels provides an additional robust, chemically resistant and easy-to-clean surface.
The robust build, combined with modular interior fittings and optionally integrable safety, alarm and charging systems, makes the ECOSAFE XL a flexible and future-proof solution for modern battery storage concepts.

Fire suppression
The fire suppression system is used for actively combating incipient fires inside the cabinet.
Functionality:
- Automatic triggering at critical temperature development (79° C)
- Release of a extinguishing or inerting agent into the interior
- Interruption of oxygen supply or cooling of the fire source
- Prevention of fire spread to other batteries
This system reduces the intensity of a battery fire and significantly limits consequential damages.
Optional alarm systems
For early detection and forwarding of hazards, additional alarm modules can be integrated.
Function scope:
- Detection of smoke or critical temperature rise inside the cabinet
- Visual and audible warning signals for immediate hazard indication
- Forwarding alarms to external systems (e.g., building management or fire alarm central)
- Increase in response speed during unattended operation
In appropriate configuration the security cabinet is equipped with:
- an optical smoke detector for early fire detection
- a visual alarm indicator (strobe)
- an audible alarm signal (alarm tone)
The connection to an external fire alarm infrastructure is via a control box with a normally open contact. This allows a direct connection to the fire alarm central (BMZ).
The electrical wiring is structurally integrated:
The cables are routed inside the rear wall of the cabinet and protectedly exit on the roof of the security cabinet. This ensures safe, clear and installation-friendly integration into existing safety systems.
Optional charging function / power connection (230 V / 400 V)
The ECOSAFE XL can be operated as a storage cabinet or as a combined storage and charging cabinet.
230 V connection:
- Standard solution
- Connection via integrated socket strips (e.g., 8 outlets per level)
- Suitable for typical workshop and service applications
400 V connection (optional):
- For higher charging power
- More even load distribution during intensive charging processes
- Use in industrial applications with increased energy demand
The electrical equipment is integrated via prepared connection areas and should be carried out by qualified specialists.

FAQ
Standard security cabinets are designed for indoor use, so they cannot be used outdoors.
The fire protection panels installed in the cabinets contain gypsum, which contains a lot of water, which expands when frozen. This deforms the panels. It can no longer be guaranteed that such a cabinet is still sealed or can withstand an explosion.
If you already have a suitable room that is structurally fire-resistant, then you do not necessarily need a safety cabinet to contain the fire.
However, please do not forget that the damage caused by a battery fire involves immense and also toxic contamination, the disposal of which can quickly lead to high costs.
In addition, you may not be able to continue working as usual until the damage has been finally repaired - depending on the location of the damage.
