The GENIUS FLEX-BOX 2900 foldable storage and transport box presented here offers an ideal solution for users who are looking for a reliable method to safely transport or store lithium batteries/lithium-ion batteries in accordance with the latest standards.

The properties, packaging instructions, approvals and ADR special regulations vary depending on the selected variant.

Size and capacity of the storage and transport container

The foldable GENIUS FLEX-BOX 2900 storage and transport box has a volume of 2900 litres and can hold a payload of 1200 kg. The empty weight is 300 kg.

The FLEX-BOX 2900 has external dimensions of 2800 × 1800 × 827 mm. The internal dimensions of the Basic version are 2700 × 1700 × 630 mm (L × W × H), while those of the Advanced and Premium versions are 2660 × 1660 × 590 mm. The container is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE).


Please note the distance between the fork pockets is 1250 mm! A heavy-duty forklift is required (in most cases) to handle the container.

Certification and guidelines

Lithium batteries fall under dangerous goods class 9, which means that the goods pose a significant risk to the environment during transport. Numerous specifications and guidelines must therefore be observed when transporting lithium batteries.

Certified for packaging group II

The containers in the FLEX-BOX series meet the requirements of packaging group II, which means that substances with a medium hazard potential may be transported in them. To achieve this classification, drop tests from a height of 1.2 metres must be passed.

Different properties and filling materials

Height of the folded box

The "Basic" version has a folded height of 282 mm, which allows for compact and space-saving storage. The "Advanced" and Premium versions have a folded height of 330 mm.

E-glass fibre needle mats and PyroBubbles provide additional protection

The Advanced version protects the contents from shocks and vibrations with E-glass fibre needle mats. This filling material is non-flammable and non-conductive. The Premium version is available for the highest safety requirements.

Filling material and safety features

No additional filling material is required for the Basic version. This option is ideal for transporting undamaged and non-defective batteries that do not require special filling materials in accordance with packaging regulation P 903. For increased safety, we recommend the "Advanced" version, which is equipped with E-glass fibre needle mats. The Advanced version can also be used to store or transport damaged and defective batteries, prototypes and batteries for disposal or recycling. For maximum safety and protection, we recommend the "Premium" version. This uses E-glass fibre needle mats in combination with 20 PyroBubbles cushions (included). The box is filled with the fire protection agent PyroBubbles ®, which forms a closed and thermally insulating layer around a source of fire. PyroBubbles offer additional fire protection and contribute to safety, especially when storing or transporting lithium batteries or lithium-ion batteries.

ADR special regulations

The "Basic" version does not contain any specific ADR special regulations. The "Advanced" and "Premium" variants, on the other hand, comply with ADR special provisions SV 376 and SV 310. Transport in accordance with SV636 is of course also possible. These regulations are designed to optimise the handling and transport of lithium batteries and to ensure safety throughout the entire transport chain, especially with regard to recycling and disposal.
