The range of Genius Lio Guard transport containers is extremely extensive, meaning that a suitable battery box can be found for every requirement and every type of cargo. Whether as a metal transport container, a plastic variant, for Packaging Group 1 or Packaging Group 2 – Genius offers a suitable container for virtually every application, enabling the safe transport or storage of defective, unstable, and, of course, intact Li-ion batteries.
Certified in accordance with ADR special provisions and compliant with UN regulations
A further advantage of the Lio Guard battery containers is their extensive range of certifications and applications. Depending on the model, the containers comply with the ADR special provisions SV 310, SV 376 and SV 377, which are so important for the transport of both intact and damaged batteries. The Lio Guard containers from Genius also meet the various UN requirements and other international guidelines, making them the perfect solution for the internationally integrated freight transport network.
PyroBubbles® from Genius – a unique extinguishing agent for tackling battery fires
With its PyroBubbles®, Genius has developed a completely new type of extinguishing agent based on silicon dioxide, which is specifically designed to tackle the challenges posed by burning lithium batteries and lithium-ion batteries, as other extinguishing agents such as water, foam, powder or CO₂ quickly reach their limits when dealing with faulty battery cells and the resulting fires.
For immediate firefighting in the event of lithium-ion battery fires
Genius PyroBubbles® extinguishing granules are used in a wide range of situations. On the one hand, PyroBubbles® are used when conventional extinguishing agents such as water are no longer effective or where their use to extinguish battery fires could cause significant damage.
Genius PyroBubbles® as a filler in battery transport containers such as the Lio Guard models
In addition to emergency firefighting, Genius PyroBubbles® are also used as a filling material in Lio Guard transport containers for lithium batteries and lithium-ion batteries. With Genius PyroBubbles® as a filling material, both intact and defective batteries – as well as those unsuitable for transport – are protected during transit against impacts and the resulting mechanical damage, which is often the cause of battery faults.
Direct suppression of battery fires using PyroBubbles®
However, the function of PyroBubbles® is far more important when problems arise with the batteries, such as if they catch fire or even explode. In such cases, Genius PyroBubbles® act as an extinguishing agent, tackling the battery fire directly within the transport container so that it does not pose a risk to the surrounding area. PyroBubbles® are used as standard in Lio Guard transport containers, for example, but can of course also be used in battery transport containers from other ranges or manufacturers. Many regulations governing the transport of lithium batteries stipulate the use of appropriate fire-extinguishing agents such as PyroBubbles®; similarly, transport and storage containers are only compliant with ADR regulations when used in combination with PyroBubbles®.
