The Lio Guard Storage Box 90 storage container made of galvanised steel presented here is the ideal solution for users looking for a reliable way to safely store lithium batteries/lithium-ion batteries that comply with UN3090, UN3091, UN3480 and UN3481 regulations. This system was developed in cooperation with a leading manufacturer of metal boxes in Europe. In addition to storing intact lithium batteries, the Lio Guard Storage Box 90 storage container is particularly suitable for damaged cells, which pose a significant hazard to the environment. Optionally, castors can be attached to the feet to simplify handling.
Size and capacity of the battery storage container
The Storage Box 90 storage container is a lockable steel container with an insert for the safe storage of lithium batteries/lithium-ion batteries. The container has a total volume of 90 litres. The maximum permissible total weight is 335 kg, the maximum recommended hazardous goods size is 543 x 393 x 370 mm, and the empty weight is 135 kg. The insert is not removable and also ensures that the cells are effectively kept away from the outer walls of the container.
The Lio Guard Storage Box 90 storage container has external dimensions of 800 x 600 x 750 mm and internal dimensions of 563 x 413 x 390 mm (length x width x height). This area of the inner container can be used for storing lithium-ion batteries. The containers are stackable in threes and are also very well suited for handling with industrial trucks. The box can be driven under from all sides and has a ground clearance of 100 mm.
A coordinated system through the use of PyroBubbles ®
Individual and expensive storage solutions can be replaced by using this economical and standardised product. The boxes are permanently reusable. The box is filled with approx. 25 kg of the fire protection agent PyroBubbles ® between the inner wall and the insert, which can form a closed and thermally insulating layer around a source of fire. The lid of the box contains 42 small PE filling cushions with PyroBubbles ® weighing 0.22 kg (0.70 litres) each. These cushions are surrounded by thin, needle-punched polyethylene (PE) film, which dissolves in the event of a fire, releasing the extinguishing agent. This provides optimum protection for the environment against damaged lithium batteries/lithium-ion
batteries. Even in the event of a chain reaction (thermal runaway), the environment is reliably protected.
Certification and guidelines
There are currently no legal regulations governing the storage of lithium batteries/lithium-ion batteries. However, by purchasing this storage system, you are optimally equipped for any regulations that may arise.
