Product information „Genius PyroBubbles ® Premium extinguishing granules, pallet“
PyroBubbles ® are a new type of extinguishing agent based on silicon dioxide. Silicon dioxide is also used in the manufacture of glass. The extinguishing granulate is extremely effective when conventional extinguishing agents such as water are no longer effective or would cause significant damage. PyroBubbles ® are also ideal in terms of environmental protection. Liquid fires can be extinguished quickly and easily without the risk of re-ignition, and the granules are less harmful to the environment than, for example, the use of water film-forming foaming agents (AFFF). PyroBubbles ® are excellent as filling material for Genius transport and storage containers. The granules are used in containers from the Lio Guard series. Please note: Active battery firefighting with Pyrobubbles requires a special fire protection concept.
The granulate is delivered in bags. In this version, a pallet with 24 bags of extinguishing agent, each weighing 12.5 kg, is shipped. PyroBubbles ® are manufactured in two quality grades: Pure and Premium. No recycled glass is used in the production of Premium.
Properties of PyroBubbles ®
PyroBubbles ® have been tested and approved by MPA Dresden and are suitable for solid and liquid combustible materials in fire classes A, B, D and F. They are lighter than sand (approx. 235 kg/m³) and therefore ideal as a filling material for the storage and transport of lithium-ion batteries in Genius transport and storage boxes. The average grain size is 0.5 to 5 mm. The extinguishing agent is water-repellent and age-resistant. Depending on the application, some of the PyroBubbles can be recovered and reused after use. In addition, the extinguishing agent is capable of absorbing electrolytes and is characterised by low thermal conductivity and electrical insulation.
Extinguishing effect of PyroBubbles ®
PyroBubbles ® are temperature-resistant up to approx. 1050°C. In the event of a fire, the granulate melts and forms a closed, thermally insulating layer around the source of the fire, thereby removing oxygen. Combustible reaction gases are reduced thanks to the pores in the balls. The high specific heat capacity absorbs thermal energy and the temperature is reduced thanks to the cooling effect. Furthermore, combustible material is shielded by the low thermal conductivity. PyroBubbles ® are also suitable for extinguishing metal fires and liquid fires.
