Product information „Genius PyroBubbles ® Pure M extinguishing granules“
PyroBubbles ® are a new type of extinguishing agent based on silicon dioxide. Silicon dioxide is also used in the manufacture of glass. The extinguishing granulate is extremely effective when conventional extinguishing agents such as water are no longer effective or would cause significant damage. PyroBubbles ® are ideal as a filling material for Genius transport and storage containers. The filling material is used in containers from the Lio Guard series. Please note: Active battery firefighting with Pyrobubbles requires a special fire protection design.
The granulate is delivered in bags. In this version, the extinguishing agent is supplied in 12.5 kg bags in the Pure M quality grade. Pure M uses recycled glass in its production. The bag has external dimensions of 770 x 420 x 130 mm.
Properties of PyroBubbles ®
PyroBubbles ® Pure M are suitable for combustible materials in fire class D. The average grain size is 2 to 6 mm. The extinguishing agent is water-repellent and age-resistant. Depending on the application, some of the PyroBubbles can be recovered and reused after use. In addition, the extinguishing agent is capable of absorbing electrolytes, has low thermal conductivity and is electrically insulating. Please note that PyroBubbles ® of the Pure M quality grade may only be used as bulk material during transport in Genius transport containers approved for this purpose as filling material for lithium-ion batteries.
Extinguishing effect of PyroBubbles ®
PyroBubbles ® Pure M are temperature-resistant up to approx. 700°C. In the event of a fire, the granulate melts and forms a closed, thermally insulating layer around the source of the fire, thereby removing oxygen. Combustible reaction gases are reduced thanks to the pores in the balls. The high specific heat capacity absorbs heat energy and the temperature is reduced thanks to the cooling effect. Furthermore, combustible material is shielded by the low thermal conductivity. PyroBubbles ® are also suitable for extinguishing metal fires.
