Product information „PRIOCAB-Li EI90 2-door storage cupboard“
In buildings and storage facilities where lithium-ion batteries are kept, there may be a high risk to staff and to operational and storage equipment. Explosive fires involving the batteries (‘thermal runaway’) are extremely difficult to control. The PRIOCAB-Li EI90 BAT double-door freestanding cabinet is suitable for the storage and charging of lithium-ion batteries and provides certified fire protection for 90 minutes from both the inside and outside. This storage system can be customised, thereby combining design and safety features.
Size, construction and function of the freestanding cabinet – with a wide range of connection options
The PRIOCAB-Li EI90 safety cabinet has external dimensions of 2048 x 1148 x 549 mm, or 2148 x 1148 x 549 mm including the control unit. The internal dimensions are 1804 x 1004 x 440 mm (height x width x depth) and the total weight is approximately 650 kg.
Can be customised on request
The freestanding cabinet is made from a non-combustible panel material. As standard, this is light grey (similar to RAL 7035), but can be customised on request. The cabinet, including its decorative finish, has certified fire load insulation and also offers high mechanical resistance.
Lockable thanks to a swing-lever lock
A swivel lever with a double-bit cylinder protects against unauthorised access. The smooth-running, free-swinging doors open to an angle of approx. 180°, folding back into the cabinet body.
Please note that this product is not a self-closing safety cabinet.
Fire seals contain the fire
In the event of a fire, the circumferential fire seal automatically expands. The doors should always remain closed, despite the integrated ventilation system, which consists of a smoke detector and a fan.
Cable entry points are fitted as standard
There are cable entries at the top and bottom of the free-standing cabinet, which allow additional components, such as fire alarms, to be fitted inside the cabinet. Power strips can be fitted as standard. Please refer to the available variants.
Load capacity up to 75 kg per shelf
The storage cabinet is supplied with 4 height-adjustable wire mesh shelves. Each has a load capacity of 75 kg. Additional wire mesh shelves can be ordered as accessories. Please note that the shelves can be loaded to approximately 70 per cent of their capacity.
Wheelchair-accessible plinth for easy transport
The plinth is 100 mm high and allows for wheeled access. A removable plinth strip is fitted at the front of the plinth.
0–4 power strips, each with 10 sockets, and additional cable entry points
Depending on the model, the cabinet features 0–4 power strips, each with 10 sockets. This allows numerous batteries to be charged directly inside the cabinet. Cable entry points at the top and bottom make it possible to install additional charging points, sensors or other technical equipment within the safety cabinet.
Additional safety thanks to a smoke detector, control unit and fire suppression system (optional)
The integrated ventilation system consists of a smoke detector and a fan. In the event of a fire, the control unit shuts off the ventilation and the surrounding fire seal foams up automatically. The cabinet is not self-closing, which is why the doors should always be kept closed. Please refer to the installation instructions under the ‘Downloads’ tab. The optional aerosol extinguishing generator continues to function even if the cabinet is disconnected from the mains supply. When used as intended, the extinguishing agent does not produce any by-products classified as harmful to the environment. A video of a fire test can be found under the ‘Videos’ tab.
Certification and guidelines
The surface material is non-combustible in accordance with classification A2 – s1, d0. The unit has a fire resistance rating of over 90 minutes from the inside out. The storage cabinet has been tested in accordance with European (EN) and German (DIN) standards and holds a Green Building Declaration in accordance with LEED and DGNB.
VDS recommendation for the storage of Li-ion batteries
To date, there are still no legal regulations governing the storage of lithium batteries / lithium-ion batteries. Only VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH provides general safety rules for damage prevention in its publication VdS 3103: 2019-06 (03). It is advisable to clarify the requirements with your property insurer in advance.
