Product information „Techno-Physik Raclan Square Box – charging box with integrated cooling system“
Battery-powered devices have become indispensable in our modern world. These devices are playing an increasingly important role, especially in commercial environments. This battery charging box offers you a high-quality entry-level option for safely storing and charging your devices and batteries.
Advantages of the RACLAN Square Box
- Extremely fast extinguishing
- Low weight
- Easy to use
- Explosion-proof
- Integrated pressure-free extinguishing and cooling system
- Acoustic alarm function
- Can be used in enclosed spaces
- Exhaust system with filter
- Environmentally friendly extinguishing agent, biodegradable
- Free of hazardous substances, not harmful to health
- Real fire and explosion testing by DMT (TÜV NORD) --> Please contact us for further information on the testing procedure
- Emergency power supply for the monitoring electronics
Size and function of the Raclan Square Box
This battery charging box has external dimensions of 580 x 580 x 380 mm (L x W x H). It weighs approximately 45 kg (including extinguishing agent, depending on the model). The interior of this charging box measures 540 x 540 x 235 mm.
Four slots are available for safely charging your devices
.
The lithium batteries are placed in the box together with the chargers and connected. The front flap is then securely closed. The power supply can then be switched on and monitoring electronics control the charging process and the interior of the box. In the upper part of the box there is a power strip with a total of four slots.
Safer and patented Trident extinguishing agent including exhaust system
If the system detects a rise in temperature or smoke gas, it immediately triggers a visual and acoustic alarm. In the event of an alarm, the pressure-free extinguishing system sprays an environmentally friendly extinguishing and cooling agent over the batteries, thereby stopping the fire. Filters direct the resulting smoke-gas mixture into the exhaust gas management system so that no toxic substances can escape to the outside.
Scope of delivery
- 1 x RACLAN ® Square Box
- 1 x cold device connection cable
- 1 x operating instructions
- 4 x rubber feet
- 2 x keys for switching on and off
- 1 x key for locking the front flap
Other information
Warning notices

The perfect storage location with integrated charging option for batteries
.
Battery-powered devices have become indispensable in everyday professional and operational life. From electrical appliances and power tools with batteries that every tradesperson carries with them, to hand-held scanners in order picking and logistics, to navigation devices, smartphones, etc., which are now also part of the basic equipment of many professions – Li-ion batteries and rechargeable batteries are becoming increasingly prevalent in everyday working life. In addition to orderly storage when not in use, charging has become increasingly important, because the devices can only be used optimally when the battery is fully charged, making combined storage and charging solutions indispensable for companies and public sector clients. Battery charging boxes combine precisely these two functions: they enable the batteries to be stored and charged at the same time. The box is powered externally by 100–230 V / 50–60 Hz and has a rechargeable 12 V LiFePO₄ battery inside, allowing flexible and independent use even without a direct mains power supply.
Maintenance and care
For private use, the RACLAN ® Square Box is largely maintenance-free. The box can be cleaned inside and out with warm water. For further instructions, please refer to the operating instructions.
VDS recommendation for the storage of Li-ion batteries
There are currently no legal regulations for the storage of lithium batteries/lithium-ion batteries. Only VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH (VdS Damage Prevention Ltd.) provides general safety rules for damage prevention in its publication VdS 3103 : 2019-06 (03). It is advisable to clarify your requirements with your property insurance company in advance.

FAQ
That depends on various factors that need to be considered:
- size of the battery(ies)
- condition (e.g. non-critical, defective, critically defective or prototype)
- power
Transport boxes are available in many different sizes and specifications. The packaging group for which the box is suitable is indicated for each product.

Even if the batteries are not critical, remember to protect them from shocks and to order appropriate filling material if it is not already included in the box.
Yes. Should a battery reach a critical state and cause a fire, separating the batteries will prevent the fire from spreading and multiplying.
Generally, the insulation and protection material should line all sides of the container. The batteries are stored between individual layers.
We also have containers in our program that already have the protective material integrated into the outer wall. No further protective layer is necessary here.
The technical principles for storage and transportation solutions are very similar. The transport boxes are also subjected to extensive tests in accordance with ADR (drop test, fire test, etc.) to confirm compliance with the ADR regulations. The packaging regulations are extensive and regulated by law.
There are currently no comparable regulations for storage. Nevertheless, manufacturers of storage boxes regularly carry out appropriate tests.
The right container depends on the type and size of the battery to be shipped or stored.
If you want to learn more about battery storage and transportation, you will find the answers in our blog articles:

The transportation of batteries is subject to ADR regulations.
The number, size and weight, energy density and condition of the batteries are crucial parameters for finding a suitable transport container for lithium-ion batteries. The selection process is complex and should be carried out by appropriately trained personnel. We have a trained hazardous materials officer on our team. Please feel free to contact us.
Plastic containers are cheaper but not as durable as metal containers. They are suitable, for example, for non-critical batteries, defective batteries, prototypes and end-of-life batteries. They can be used for both storage and transportation.
Metal containers are required, for example, when dealing with critically defective batteries.
The exact packaging instructions for these cases can be found in the ADR or by consulting a certified hazardous materials specialist.
To date, there are no legal requirements for the storage of lithium-ion batteries, which does not mean that they should be stored without suitable protective measures.
It is best to check with your insurer to find out which measures they recognize as suitable in the event of a claim.
For example, a suitable box could already be recognized as spatial separation.
