The ThorPak ® battery bulk carriers are specially developed, certified reusable containers for the safe transport and storage of new and defective lithium-ion batteries. They meet the highest standards for dangerous goods packaging and are approved for use in road, rail and sea transport.
The systems enable safe, standard-compliant and efficient handling throughout the entire logistics chain – from prototypes to series production. Thanks to their robust construction, integrated safety systems and internal packaging, they offer a cost-effective and sustainable solution for handling sensitive energy storage devices.
Particular attention is paid to transport safety, labelling and ease of handling, thereby optimising both packaging processes and logistical workflows.

The packaging is suitable for transport in accordance with the relevant UN numbers (e.g. UN 3090 and UN 3480) and supports compliance with standards in the international transport of dangerous goods.
Approvals & Safety Features
The ThorPak ® systems comply with comprehensive international regulations :
- Approval in accordance with ADR, RID, ADN, IMDG
- Designed in accordance with packaging regulations LP903, LP904, LP905 and P908, P909, P910
- Classification for Class 9 dangerous goods (lithium batteries)
Safety features :
- Integrated lashing system in the lid for secure transport
- Inner packaging made of fire-resistant materials and sufficiently absorbent to ensure maximum safety and protection
- Clear labelling in accordance with dangerous goods regulations
- Stackable design for safe storage

Important note :
The transport of damagedor defective batteries is only permitted under certain conditions. Batteries in a critically defective condition are excluded from approval.
Guidance on use & operation
- Use strictly in accordance with applicable dangerous goods regulations
- Inner packaging must be supplemented with non-flammable, electrically non-conductive insulating material
- Secure fastening of the batteries within the container is absolutely essential
- Labelling and documentation in accordance with ADR
- Regular visual inspection of the packaging and securing systems is recommended
