Product information „CEMO Ladeschrank 8/10 LockEX 2.0 “
Brief overview
The CEMO 8/10 LockEX 2.0 charging cabinets are VDMA-certified safety cabinets designed for the stationary storage and charging of lithium-ion batteries indoors. They are particularly suitable for workshops, industrial, service and storage areas where batteries need to be housed in a protected and physically segregated manner during storage and charging.
The fire- and explosion-resistant design combines passive fire protection measures with mechanical ventilation, fire detection and the LockEX 2.0 pressure relief system. Depending on the required level of safety and monitoring, the Basic, Premium and Premium Plus models are available. All three variants feature two 9-socket power strips with a total of 18 sockets and are available with either a 230 V or 400 V power supply, as well as with stacking feet or castors.
All versions feature CEMO CONTROL for monitoring and intelligent networking of the charging cabinets. From the Premium version upwards, the web-based monitoring platform CEMO cockpit is also available.

CEMO CONTROL & CEMO cockpit
With CEMO CONTROL, the CEMO 8/10 charging cabinets feature monitoring and smart networking functions. Even the Basic version allows networking with additional units, data storage for up to 18 months and connection to a fire alarm system interface.
From the Premium version onwards, the web-based monitoring platform CEMO cockpit is also available. It adds live monitoring to the features and enables centralised monitoring of the connected charging cabinets. The Premium and Premium Plus versions also feature Wi-Fi and a display on the cabinet.
The Premium Plus version also includes a remote communication module with a SIM card.
Safety and protection functions
The integrated fire detection system provides a visual and audible warning should a fire be detected. Temperature monitoring is carried out via a temperature sensor. The current Premium and Premium Plus data sheets explicitly list these features.
The LockEX 2.0 locking system is designed to provide controlled pressure relief in the event of an explosive pressure build-up inside the cabinet. The spring mechanism enables the doors to open in a controlled manner to relieve pressure and then close again.
The fire-propagation-preventing storage levels help to limit the spread of fire between individual batteries or battery modules. In addition, the charging cabinets are fitted with mechanical ventilation and a door contact switch.
The Premium and Premium Plus models offer additional options for web-based monitoring via CEMO cockpit. The Premium Plus model also includes a remote communication module with a SIM card.
Applications
The CEMO 8/10 LockEX 2.0 charging cabinets are designed for the storage and simultaneous charging of lithium-ion batteries in commercial and industrial indoor environments.
Typical areas of application include:
- Industrial and manufacturing facilities
- Workshops and service areas
- Trades businesses
- Warehouse and logistics areas
- Research and development
- Charging and storing tool batteries
- Batteries for tools and machinery
With three equipment levels available, the charging cabinet can be selected to suit operational requirements. The ‘Basic’ version is suitable for applications requiring the basic monitoring and networking functions of CEMO CONTROL, whilst the ‘Premium’ and ‘Premium Plus’ versions, with CEMO cockpit, offer additional options for web-based monitoring and integration into operational safety and alarm systems.
The choice between 230 V and 400 V also allows the charging infrastructure to be adapted to the required electrical power. With stacking feet or castors, the cabinet can also be configured to meet specific installation and handling requirements.
Approvals / Standards
- Certified in accordance with VDMA Standard Sheet 24994:2024-08
Notes on use
The CEMO 8/10 LockEX 2.0 variants are designed as storage and charging cabinets for lithium-ion batteries and are intended for indoor installation. The integrated charging infrastructure provides a total of 18 charging points.
The doors should remain closed during the charging process. Specific use and installation should be carried out as part of the workplace risk assessment and in accordance with the relevant fire safety plan.
When selecting the base unit, please note that models with stacking feet can be stacked up to two high. Models with castors are not stackable. Both variants are specified as wheelchair-accessible in the current manufacturer’s data sheets.
Conclusion
The CEMO 8/10 LockEX 2.0 charging cabinets offer a fire- and explosion-resistant solution for the storage and charging of lithium-ion batteries indoors. With the three equipment levels – Basic, Premium and Premium Plus – the scope of the monitoring and alarm functions can be adapted to different operational requirements.
The additional choice between 230 V and 400 V, as well as stacking feet and castors, allows the charging cabinet to be configured according to the required charging power and the requirements of the installation site. The combination of charging infrastructure, fire detection, mechanical ventilation, pressure relief and fire-retardant storage shelves supports the integration of battery charging into existing operational and fire safety concepts.
With CEMO CONTROL, all models also feature monitoring and smart networking functions. The Premium and Premium Plus versions extend this functionality to include the web-based monitoring platform CEMO cockpit; the Premium Plus version also features a remote communication module with a SIM card.

FAQ
Standard security cabinets are designed for indoor use, so they cannot be used outdoors.
The fire protection panels installed in the cabinets contain gypsum, which contains a lot of water, which expands when frozen. This deforms the panels. It can no longer be guaranteed that such a cabinet is still sealed or can withstand an explosion.
If you already have a suitable room that is structurally fire-resistant, then you do not necessarily need a safety cabinet to contain the fire.
However, please do not forget that the damage caused by a battery fire involves immense and also toxic contamination, the disposal of which can quickly lead to high costs.
In addition, you may not be able to continue working as usual until the damage has been finally repaired - depending on the location of the damage.
