Product information „Fingerhuth fire containment blanket / fire blanket H-TYPE KFZ“
1. Overview
The Fingerhuth H-TYPE KFZ fire-containment blanket (hereinafter also referred to synonymously as a fire-extinguishing blanket or fire-protection blanket) is designed to cover damaged or burning devices containing lithium-ion batteries. It serves to isolate flames beneath the blanket as effectively as possible, reduce the spread of smoke and toxic gases, lower the temperature and limit explosions beneath the blanket.
Fires involving lithium-ion batteries pose a particular challenge, as conventional fire extinguishers often reach their limits in such situations. The H-TYPE fire containment blanket offers a simple, quick-to-deploy way of enclosing a fire source and thus protecting the surrounding area.
Please note: In everyday language, the term ‘fire blanket’ is frequently used. Technically speaking, this is a fire containment or fire protection blanket – the fire is primarily contained, not actively extinguished.

5. Instructions for use and operation
Basic principle of use:
- The blanket is unfolded using the handles and carefully placed over the burning or at-risk object by two people
- Depending on the fire load, the fire is usually smothered or significantly contained within a short time
- To ensure sufficient cooling (below approx. 100 °C), the blanket should remain on the object for as long as possible
Important information:
- After removing the blanket, check that there is no reignition – even individual battery cells may react again after a delay
- Where possible, always use personal protective equipment (PPE)
- In the event of a fire, the fire brigade should always be called
Storage / Handling:
- Store the blanket in a trolley or in a PVC utility bag
- Store in a dry place; do not place any loads directly on the blanket
