Brief overview
The LiBa ® Box is a specially developed transport and storage solution for lithium-ion batteries. It combines a robust steel construction with integrated safety features and enables the safe handling, temporary storage and ADR-compliant transport of lithium batteries of various sizes and condition classes. The product range is available in numerous sizes and can be used for intact batteries as well as defective or critically defective ones.
The safety concept includes an integrated spill tray for water-polluting substances, designated ventilation areas for controlled gas management, and the LiBa ® Sol extinguishing system, which activates automatically in the event of thermal runaway. The LiBa ® Box has been specially developed to reduce the risks of thermal runaway whilst protecting people, infrastructure and the environment.
A key component of the system concept is full compatibility with the LiBa ® Safe. The specially developed inner packaging can be integrated directly into the LiBa ® Box and complements the outer packaging with additional safety features such as gas management, HF reduction and particle retention. This creates a multi-stage safety and packaging system for storage and the transport of dangerous goods.

Safety features
Integrated LiBa ® Sol
extinguishing system
The LiBa ® box is equipped with the LiBa ® Sol extinguishing system. The system activates automatically at temperatures of around 180 °C and requires no external power supply. It helps to contain thermal runaway events and contributes to reducing the impact of a battery fire. At the same time, it treats the fire and process gases generated during thermal runaway.
Gas management
The integrated ventilation surfaces enable controlled pressure relief and gas management. This allows gases to be specifically vented and reduces uncontrolled pressure build-up inside the container.
Drip tray
The integrated drip tray is designed to comply with StawaR regulations for substances hazardous to water and safely contains any leaking electrolytes, fire-extinguishing agents or other liquids.
ADR and UN compliance
Depending on the version, the LiBa ® Box meets numerous requirements for the transport of lithium batteries as dangerous goods and is approved for various ADR special provisions and packing instructions. This also makes it suitable for the transport of damaged or critically defective batteries.
