Brief overview
The Genius PyroBubbles® Pure M fabric pouches combine the properties of the mineral PyroBubbles® granules with particularly simple and clean handling. The granules are securely enclosed in fabric pouches, meaning they do not need to be poured loose into the relevant container. This makes them easier to insert, position and remove, whilst also reducing dust formation during handling.
The pouches can be arranged in the container to suit the specific application and are available in four sizes: S, M, L and XL.
The PyroBubbles® Pure M contained within is a mineral material based on silicon dioxide with a grain size of approximately 2 to 6 mm. It has low thermal conductivity, is electrically insulating and can absorb electrolytes. In the event of a fire, these properties can help to absorb heat and reduce heat transfer to adjacent areas.
Please note: Active fire suppression of lithium-ion batteries using PyroBubbles® requires a fire protection concept specifically tailored to the respective application.

Properties of PyroBubbles® Pure M
The fabric cushions are filled with PyroBubbles® Pure M. Among other things, the material has the following properties:
- Base material: silicon dioxide
- Particle size: approx. 2–6 mm
- Temperature resistance: up to approx. 700 °C

The properties of the granules remain suitable for the intended application even when used inside the fabric pouches.
Mode of action
PyroBubbles® Pure M have a high specific heat capacity and can therefore absorb thermal energy in the event of a fire. At the same time, their low thermal conductivity helps to limit heat transfer to adjacent areas.
At high temperatures, the granules melt, forming a closed, thermally insulating layer around the source of the fire. This shields the affected area and reduces the supply of oxygen. The porous structure of the material also helps to reduce the formation of flammable reaction gases.
The fabric pouches allow these material properties to be utilised without the granules having to be poured loosely into the container.

PyroBubbles® Pure M fabric pouches are particularly suitable as filling and protective material for appropriately designed:
- Transport containers for lithium-ion batteries
- Storage containers for lithium-ion batteries
- Safety and emergency containers
- Battery packaging systems
- Containers from the Genius Lio-Guard series
The different cushion sizes allow for adaptation to various container and battery dimensions.
Please note the following for the transport of dangerous goods: PyroBubbles® Pure M may only be used as a cushioning material for lithium-ion batteries in the approved Genius transport containers and in accordance with the relevant packaging approval.
Instructions for use
The number, size and arrangement of the fabric cushions required depend on the container used, the battery and the specific application. When transporting dangerous goods, the requirements of the relevant packaging approval and packaging instructions must be adhered to.
Before use, check that the fabric cushions are undamaged and that the granules they contain are securely enclosed. Damaged cushions should not be reused.
For the active firefighting of lithium-ion batteries, a fire protection concept specifically tailored to the respective application is required. The fabric pouches must therefore always be considered in conjunction with the intended protection or packaging system.
