Product information „Genius charging case BSK-1, incl. cable gland“
In buildings and storage facilities where lithium-ion batteries are stored, damaged cells can pose a high risk potential for employees and the operating and storage technology. Explosive fires in batteries ("thermal runaway") are difficult to control. The BSK-1 fire protection case is ideal for the safe storage of lithium-ion batteries. Thanks to the special and unique cable feed-through, batteries and rechargeable batteries can be safely charged during storage in the case. The light weight, easy handling and robust design ensure safe use even in enclosed spaces.
The Genius BSK-1 fire protection case can also be used for the UN-compliant transportation of lithium-ion batteries in accordance with packaging instructions P903, P908, P909 and P910!
Features of the BSK-1 fire protection case
You are on the safe side with the BSK-1 fire protection case. The case was developed using the latest technology and successfully tested in a real fire test. The PyroBubbles® cushions it contains withstand significantly greater heat loads than, for example, rock wool or fiberglass products.
The completely maintenance-free GENIUS PyroBubbles are suitable as an extinguishing agent/fire retardant for batteries, which is a great advantage in the event of a thermal runaway.
The BSK-1 fire protection case is made of polypropylene (PP) and is supplied with PyroBubble® cushions. The external dimensions of the red fire protection case from GENIUS are 60 x 40 x 28 cm (L x W x H) with an empty weight of 8 kg. The inside dimensions are 51 x 31 x 25 cm (L x W x H), giving the special case a volume of 40 liters. The maximum recommended size for hazardous goods is 490 x 290 x 230 mm. The handle and the very low weight - despite the extremely robust outer shell - make the fire protection case easy to handle.
The case can be used for internal transportation.
Please note that the maximum energy density of all batteries to be stored in the box should not exceed 1000 Wh in total.
Advantages of the charging case incl. charging function
The BSK-1 fire protection case was developed in accordance with the highest safety standards for the storage of lithium-ion batteries. Thanks to the additional and unique cable feed-through, batteries can not only be stored in the BSK-1, but also charged safely.
The extremely robust outer shell in a striking color has integrated pressure valves and an ergonomic handle. The fire protection case is very easy to handle and is free of hazardous substances (non-hazardous to health). The special case can also be used in closed rooms and has special explosion protection in the housing, making it suitable for powerful power tools or defective batteries.
The BSK-1 fire protection case offers maximum protection for people and their surroundings. In the event of an accident, it ensures that no flames or splinters escape. Thanks to its high penetration resistance, the case is also suitable for powerful power tools or defective batteries.

Packaging groups, special regulations and packaging instructions for UN-compliant transportation
Lithium batteries fall into dangerous goods class 9, which means that the goods pose a risk to the environment during transportation that should not be underestimated. Numerous specifications and guidelines must therefore be observed when transporting lithium batteries. The BSK1 fire protection case has been specially developed to reflect the relevant packaging instructions for transportation!
Battery box is certified for packaging group II
The Genius BSK1 fire protection case meets the requirements of packaging group II, which means that substances with a medium hazard potential may be transported in it. To achieve this classification, the box must be type-tested and withstand a drop height of 1.2 m.
Suitable for transportation in accordance with SV 376 of the ADR and packing instruction P 908
All lithium-ion cells or batteries and lithium-metal cells or batteries that have been damaged and no longer comply with the applicable regulations according to their manual must comply with the provisions of Special Provision 376 (SV 376). This applies, for example, to cells that have leaked or degassed, have suffered external or mechanical damage or have been identified as defective for safety reasons or could no longer be diagnosed prior to transportation. These cells must then be packed in accordance with packing instruction P 908. According to this directive, for example, it must be ensured that any electrolytes released are absorbed and a non-electrically conductive thermal insulation material must ensure that the environment is protected from dangerous heat generation.
For storage, transportation and recycling in accordance with SV 377 of the ADR and packaging instruction P 909
Special provision SV 377 regulates the transportation of lithium-ion cells or batteries and lithium-metal cells or batteries that are transported for disposal or recycling. Similar to packing instruction P 908, guidelines for packing group II must be observed in P 909. In addition, restrictions on the nominal energy and weight of the lithium-ion cells and batteries apply.
Prototype transports according to SV 310 of the ADR and packing instruction P 910
The special provision SV 310 regulates the transportation of prototypes of lithium-ion cells or batteries and lithium-metal cells or batteries. Packaging instruction P 910 then specifies, among other things, requirements for packaging and the mass of dangerous goods.
