asecos CORE CHARGE – Safety Cabinet with Fittings for Lithium-Ion Batteries

1. Product Overview

The asecos CORE CHARGE Safety Cabinet from ION-LINE offers a secure solution for charging and storing lithium-ion batteries indoors. Through an integrated locker system, multiple batteries can be stored and charged separately.

The cabinet features tested fire protection from outside to inside as well as inside to outside for 90 minutes and helps companies store lithium batteries in a controlled and insurance-compliant manner. Thanks to its compact design, the cabinet can be integrated into existing work environments without extensive structural measures.

  • Suitable for batteries from power tools, industrial applications, workshops and technical companies

  • Separate storage through individual metal lockers

  • Use in workshops, production areas and storage rooms

  • Integration into existing rooms without structural changes

To increase safety, it is recommended to forward the alarm signal to a continuously staffed control room.

5. Materials & Construction

The safety cabinet is robustly engineered for industrial use.

  • Sturdy outer frame with powder-coated structural surface

  • Three-way door mounting for increased stability

  • Corrosion-protected locking mechanism outside the storage area

  • Door made of steel sheet

  • Paint finish of the door in RAL 5010 Gentian Blue

The integrated transport base enables easy internal transport.


6. Fire protection and Safety Features

The CORE CHARGE safety cabinet was developed specifically for safe handling of lithium batteries.

  • Fire resistance over 90 minutes

  • Fire protection from outside to inside according to DIN EN 14470-1 (Type 90)

  • Fire resistance from inside to outside according to DIN EN 1363-1

  • Thermally insulating shelf bottoms to reduce fire spread

  • Automatically self-closing doors

  • Profile cylinder (can be used in locking systems)

  • Lock status indicator Red/Green

With separate lockers, the spread to other batteries is reduced in the event of a battery fire.


7. Charging and Connection Options

The safety cabinet enables simultaneous charging of several batteries.

  • Power outlet connection (230 V Schuko) in each locker

  • Power strips in the interior

  • Potential-free contact for alarm forwarding

  • Optional remote module to alert the plant manager

The integrated intake and exhaust system can also be connected to a technical exhaust (NW 75).
A rotating indicator wheel in the exhaust grille shows the functionality of the technical exhaust.

The fire protection panels installed in the cabinets contain gypsum, which contains a lot of water, which expands when frozen. This deforms the panels. It can no longer be guaranteed that such a cabinet is still sealed or can withstand an explosion.

If you already have a suitable room that is structurally fire-resistant, then you do not necessarily need a safety cabinet to contain the fire.

However, please do not forget that the damage caused by a battery fire involves immense and also toxic contamination, the disposal of which can quickly lead to high costs.

In addition, you may not be able to continue working as usual until the damage has been finally repaired - depending on the location of the damage.
