Product information „Düperthal BATTERY station line M charging cabinet“
This safety cabinet is an innovative storage and charging system for lithium-ion rechargeable batteries/lithium-ion batteries. To prevent damage caused by faulty battery cells, Düperthal has developed this innovative and DIN-certified cabinet system. Smoke gases in particular can cause permanent damage to surrounding electronic devices. Düperthal's BATTERY line cabinets protect you from the outset against this and other damage that can be caused, for example, by continuous (thermal runaway) lithium-ion battery cells. The tested fire resistance from the inside to the outside makes this system particularly interesting for use in industrial applications.
Size, capacity and function of the battery safety cabinet
The Düperthal BATTERY line station series comprises various safety cabinets for lithium-ion batteries. The storage levels also feature 230 V connections for connecting chargers. The power connection for the lithium battery cabinet itself is via a reverse polarity-protected 16 A CEE -L+N+PE 6h plug, so that in addition to the pure storage of lithium-ion batteries, charging is also possible. The supply voltage is single-phase 230 V / 50 Hz, max. 3.68 kW. Please contact us if you require a higher supply voltage.
Alarm forwarding for Düperthal battery safety cabinets
As an option, Düperthal systems can be equipped with a potential-free contact for alarm forwarding. Visual and acoustic signals and remote signalling modules are also available. Please contact us if you have any questions about these systems: info@lion-care.com or +49 7151 256 4811.
Storage capacity of the Düperthal BATTERY station line M safety cabinet
The model M has external dimensions of 2091 x 594 x 612 mm (height x width x depth). Please refer to the dimension sheet, which can be found in the download area, for the internal dimensions. The empty weight is 320 kg with a maximum internal cabinet volume of 0.43 m³. The cabinet can be moved with a pallet truck for easier handling.
54 Ah per stored cell permitted
The maximum capacity of the individual lithium-ion cells that may be stored in the cabinet is 54 Ah. Please note that the 54 Ah does not refer to the entire battery, as each battery consists of several cells. This value covers the majority of batteries used today. Each storage level has a load capacity of 75 kg. The drip tray at the bottom of the cabinet has a volume of 11 litres. A video of the fire test can be found in the "Videos" tab.
One storage area per storage level
The M version of the safety cabinet has four storage levels. There are four 230 V Schuko sockets per storage level.
Also suitable for charging
All storage levels are equipped with four sockets, so that the Düperthal BATTERY Station Line M safety cabinet can be used not only to store Li-ion batteries, but also to charge them at the same time – ideal for integration into the everyday operations of many companies. The sockets are located on the right-hand side of the battery safety cabinet. Maximum safety is combined with optimised operating procedures.
Düperthal BATTERY station line M battery cabinet – safety at the highest level
The safe storage of Li-ion batteries was Düperthal's top priority when developing this cabinet. The various safety mechanisms that protect the environment in the event of a battery fire or even battery explosions are correspondingly comprehensive and sophisticated.
Fire resistance F90 / Type 90 – 90 minutes of protection in the event of a fire
If a Li-ion battery catches fire, the environment must be reliably protected from the dangers it poses. Düterthal's battery safety cabinets, such as the Düperthal BATTERY station line M safety cabinet presented here, have a fire resistance rating of F90 / Type 90, meaning they offer 90 minutes of protection before the burning batteries cause damage to the environment. Within these 90 minutes, the area can be evacuated, initial countermeasures can be taken with suitable battery fire extinguishers and extinguishing agents, and the fire brigade can be called, ensuring optimum safety.
Double protection – for the environment and for the stored lithium-ion batteries
Unlike many other manufacturers of safety cabinets, Düperthal models undergo a double fire protection test. The F90 fire resistance rating applies both from the inside to the outside and from the outside to the inside. This means that the environment is protected if the batteries catch fire (protection from the inside to the outside), but the Li-ion batteries are also protected if a fire breaks out around the safety cabinet (protection from the outside to the inside).
Intelligent locking mechanisms for cabinet doors
The door remains open in any position, but a cylinder lock with permanent locking can lock the hinged door. At a temperature of approx. 50 °C, the door closes automatically in the cabinet due to the thermal triggering of the automatic door closure. A backdraft lock ensures that the door cannot be opened. The fire brigade can open the doors using an emergency release on the top of the cabinet.
Exhaust air openings close automatically from the outside in the event of a fire
.
There is an exhaust air pipe with NW110 and NW75 adapter on the cabinet. In the event of a fire outside the cabinet, the exhaust air openings are closed by the safety technology at a room temperature of approx. 70 °C. Inspection cut-outs are incorporated above the false ceiling, which turn red when the exhaust air openings are closed. In the event of a fire inside, the smoke gases are "compressed" in the cabinet and can be directed outside via the exhaust air connection. Please note that the connection to the exhaust air and the materials required for this are not included in the scope of delivery/services. The connection to the exhaust air must be provided on site.
Drip trays retain hazardous liquids
There is a drip tray at the bottom of the battery cabinet that can collect any liquids that leak out. Especially when batteries are defective, environmentally hazardous liquids can leak out. Li-ion batteries contain electrolytes that are hazardous to humans and the environment. The collection tray integrated into the cabinet effectively retains these liquids.
Levelling feet ensure ideal positioning
The levelling feet of the Düperthal BATTERY Station Line M safety cabinet are adjustable and allow for levelling. This ensures that the battery cabinet can be optimally positioned on virtually any surface.
Individual customisation and additional equipment available
Düperthal offers a wide range of customisation options and extensive accessories for the Battery Line safety cabinets, allowing them to be perfectly adapted to your company's specific requirements.
Cabinet doors available in other colours
The door is made of sheet steel in the colour PANTONE 389 C (yellow-green). Other colours are available on request. This allows the cabinets to be optimally integrated into your company.
Temperature monitoring, load adapters and much more.
Tested pipe penetrations are available as an option. If loads are to be stored on the cabinet roof, load adapters are available for installation to ensure that fire resistance is not impaired.
Certification and maintenance of the battery safety cabinet
There are currently no legal regulations for the storage of lithium batteries/lithium-ion batteries. However, by purchasing this storage system, you are optimally equipped for any regulations that may arise. Lithium-ion batteries are classified as Class 9 dangerous goods.
Comprehensive testing in accordance with DIN/EN 14470-1
These battery cabinet systems from Düperthal are tested as safety cabinets in accordance with DIN. Type tests have been carried out by MPA/TÜV SÜD in accordance with DIN EN 14470-1 (fire resistance of safety cabinets for flammable liquids), DIN EN 16121 and DIN EN 16122 (test methods for determining the strength, durability and stability of container furniture for residential and non-residential areas) and DIN 31000 damage prevention in accordance with VdS 3103:2015-06. CE marks are also available. BATTERY line security cabinets are also certified as Type 90 in accordance with EN14470-1. This means that the fire resistance of the cabinets has been tested and classified for over 90 minutes according to the type.
Delivery and maintenance of battery cabinets
The cabinets are delivered to the place of use. Before delivery, the customer's requirements for delivery are checked. Under certain circumstances, additional lifting equipment or similar may be required to set up the cabinets. Please contact us before placing your order to clarify any special requirements.

FAQ
Standard security cabinets are designed for indoor use, so they cannot be used outdoors.
The fire protection panels installed in the cabinets contain gypsum, which contains a lot of water, which expands when frozen. This deforms the panels. It can no longer be guaranteed that such a cabinet is still sealed or can withstand an explosion.
If you already have a suitable room that is structurally fire-resistant, then you do not necessarily need a safety cabinet to contain the fire.
However, please do not forget that the damage caused by a battery fire involves immense and also toxic contamination, the disposal of which can quickly lead to high costs.
In addition, you may not be able to continue working as usual until the damage has been finally repaired - depending on the location of the damage.
