The CEMO Li-SAFE 2-L plastic battery system fire protection box presented here is the ideal solution for users who are looking for a reliable way to transport or store lithium batteries / lithium-ion batteries with substance numbers UN3480, UN3481, UN3090 and UN3091. In addition to the storage of lithium batteries as a stationary safety container, the fire protection box is also suitable for fire-protected storage on the road (e.g. on the construction site) and for public transportation on the road in accordance with regulations. The battery containers in the Li-SAFE series are made from durable, impact-resistant plastic and are ideal for applications such as power tools and small devices that use lithium-ion batteries.

Size and capacity of the battery transport container

The battery container is extremely handy and flexible to use. With external dimensions of 500 x 300 x 280 cm and internal dimensions of 400 x 170 x 150 mm (length x width x height), the Li-SAFE 2-L battery system fire protection box is particularly compact and therefore ideal for applications in restricted environments and with a small number of lithium-ion batteries. The CEMO Li-SAFE 2-L battery system fire protection box has a permissible total weight of 12 kg. The Li-SAFE 2-L battery system fire protection box made of plastic is the largest model in the Li-SAFE series. In addition, the boxes can be stacked and linked together and therefore take up minimal storage space. The container has a closure with 2 clips.

Delivery incl. vermiculite cushion

This version of the box comes with 4 special moldable cushions. These prevent unwanted movement of the batteries inside the box. Vermiculite cushions for hazardous goods are non-flammable and temperature-resistant up to over 1000°C. They also offer very good cushioning and insulating properties and are completely harmless to health.

Packaging group, special regulations and packaging instructions

Lithium batteries fall into dangerous goods class 9, which means that the goods pose a risk to the environment during transportation that should not be underestimated. Numerous regulations and guidelines must therefore be observed when transporting lithium batteries. The CEMO battery system fire protection boxes have been specially designed for the strictest safety regulations.

Battery container is certified for packaging groups II and III

The containers in the Li-SAFE series meet the requirements of packaging groups II and III, which means that substances with low and medium hazard potential may be transported in them. To achieve this classification, the box must be type-tested and have withstood a drop height of 1.2 m.

Suitable for transportation in accordance with SV 376 of the ADR and packing instruction P 908

All lithium-ion cells or batteries and lithium-metal cells or batteries that have been damaged and no longer comply with the applicable regulations according to their manual must comply with the provisions of Special Provision 376 (SV 376). This applies, for example, to cells that have leaked or degassed, have suffered external or mechanical damage or have been identified as defective for safety reasons or could no longer be diagnosed prior to transportation. These cells must then be packed in accordance with packing instruction P 908. According to this directive, for example, it must be ensured that any electrolytes released are absorbed and a non-electrically conductive thermal insulation material must ensure that the environment is protected from dangerous heat generation.

For storage, transportation and recycling in accordance with SV 377 of the ADR and packaging instruction P 909

Special provision SV 377 regulates the transportation of lithium-ion cells or batteries and lithium-metal cells or batteries that are transported for disposal or recycling. Similar to packing instruction P 908, guidelines for packing group II must be observed in P 909. In addition, restrictions on the nominal energy and weight of the lithium-ion cells and batteries apply.

Prototype transports according to SV 310 of the ADR and packing instruction P 910

The special provision SV 310 regulates the transportation of prototypes of lithium-ion cells or batteries and lithium-metal cells or batteries. Packing instruction P 910 then specifies, among other things, requirements for packaging and the mass of dangerous goods.

Special provision SV 230 applies to cells and batteries containing lithium in any form, including lithium polymer and lithium ion cells and batteries. Packing Instruction P 903 applies to UN numbers 3090, 3091, 3480 and 3481 and is intended for equipment that uses lithium cells or batteries to provide electrical energy. This ensures the transportation of intact rechargeable batteries.

Li-SAFE battery system fire protection box - The safe transport and storage system for lithium batteries

The Li-SAFE 2-L battery and battery system fire protection box presented here is part of the Li-SAFE range from CEMO, an established manufacturer with many years of high-quality products and many years of experience. The boxes in the Li-SAFE series can be stacked and linked together. The moldable special cushions prevent unwanted movement of the batteries inside the box. The 2-L version comes with 2 of the special cushions.

Differences between the Li-SAFE 2-L and Li-SAFE 3-S battery system fire protection box

The Li-SAFE 2-L battery system fire protection box presented here is part of the Li-SAFE line, which offers an attractive introduction to safe battery storage and the reliable transportation of lithium batteries. CEMO also offers boxes in the Li-SAFE 3-S version. This has the same basic dimensions and differs only in height and the permissible total weight. The 3-S version also includes 3 special cushions. Both variants are ideal for different battery statuses according to ADR (new/intact, prototype, defective, disposal) and have an ADR sticker. The boxes can be easily stacked for storage and transportation and can also be linked together using a twist lock. Both fire protection boxes can be transported both horizontally and vertically thanks to the two carrying handles.

The manufacturer of the battery box - CEMO GmbH

CEMO GmbH, with sites in Weinstadt, Schnelldorf and France, is a pioneer in the field of modern transport and storage container technology and a provider of professional solutions for the storage of hazardous materials.
