The ZARGES battery storage box offers reliable protection for your batteries. With storage options for power tool batteries and e-bike batteries (depending on size), this fireproof battery box offers a flexible concept for storing all types of lithium batteries.

High-quality and innovative storage system

ZARGES has developed this high-quality and innovative storage and transport system for lithium-ion batteries. Depending on their size, several lithium-ion batteries can be safely stored in the inner container.

Non-electrically conductive and dust-free interior

The box is equipped with a specially manufactured inner filling. This material ensures that the lithium-ion batteries packed inside can not only be stored safely, but also has a fire-retardant effect in the event of a fire and absorbs any escaping liquids, thereby protecting the environment from hazards. Its flexibility allows it to adapt to the contours of the batteries.

Size and capacity of the battery storage box

The box has an empty weight of 9 kg. The compact external dimensions of 600 x 400 x 240 mm and the internal dimensions of 550 x 350 x 220 mm make the box ideal for applications in restricted environments. The usable dimensions are 450 x 300 x 150 mm.

Protection against mechanical shocks

In addition to protecting against the dangers of defective batteries, the box also protects against mechanical stress, which is often the cause of battery defects. The box's padding effectively absorbs mechanical shocks and prevents damage to the batteries.

Versatile applications

The lightweight aluminum storage container is ideal for a wide variety of applications and is very popular with both commercial and private users. Applications include power tool batteries and e-bike batteries.

Tested according to TÜV Nord DMT program up to 814 Wh

The storage case has been tested in accordance with TÜV Nord DMT principle M02/22 Storage for lithium-ion batteries. The maximum permissible energy density for this system is 814 Wh. No escape of flames or splinters. The temperature on the container surface remains below 200° C.

Temperature range and flexibility of use

The container can be used in a temperature range from -40°C to 80°C, allowing it to be used in any climate zone. Accordingly, the box offers great flexibility in the choice of location.

Notes on transportation

The box has no type approval for transportation in accordance with ADR or IATA. However, it can be transported by private individuals and tradesmen in accordance with the tradesmen's regulations (ADR 1.1.3.1 c).

FAQ
Fragen & Antworten zum Artikel ... mehr
How many batteries can be transported in one container?

That depends on various factors that need to be considered:

  • size of the battery(ies)
  • condition (e.g. non-critical, defective, critically defective or prototype)
  • power

Transport boxes are available in many different sizes and specifications. The packaging group for which the box is suitable is indicated for each product.

Even if the batteries are not critical, remember to protect them from shocks and to order appropriate filling material if it is not already included in the box.

Do the individual batteries / rechargeable batteries have to be separated by a layer, e.g. PyroBubbles or vermiculite cushions?

Yes. Should a battery reach a critical state and cause a fire, separating the batteries will prevent the fire from spreading and multiplying.

Generally, the insulation and protection material should line all sides of the container. The batteries are stored between individual layers.

We also have containers in our program that already have the protective material integrated into the outer wall. No further protective layer is necessary here.

What is the difference between storage and transportation containers for lithium-ion batteries?

The technical principles for storage and transportation solutions are very similar. The transport boxes are also subjected to extensive tests in accordance with ADR (drop test, fire test, etc.) to confirm compliance with the ADR regulations. The packaging regulations are extensive and regulated by law.
There are currently no comparable regulations for storage. Nevertheless, manufacturers of storage boxes regularly carry out appropriate tests.
The right container depends on the type and size of the battery to be shipped or stored.

What do you need to bear in mind when transporting lithium-ion batteries?

The transportation of batteries is subject to ADR regulations.

The number, size and weight, energy density and condition of the batteries are crucial parameters for finding a suitable transport container for lithium-ion batteries. The selection process is complex and should be carried out by appropriately trained personnel. We have a trained hazardous materials officer on our team. Please feel free to contact us.

What is the difference between metal and plastic containers?

Plastic containers are cheaper but not as durable as metal containers. They are suitable, for example, for non-critical batteries, defective batteries, prototypes and end-of-life batteries. They can be used for both storage and transportation.

Metal containers are required, for example, when dealing with critically defective batteries.

The exact packaging instructions for these cases can be found in the ADR or by consulting a certified hazardous materials specialist.

What must be considered when storing lithium-ion batteries?

To date, there are no legal requirements for the storage of lithium-ion batteries, which does not mean that they should be stored without suitable protective measures.

It is best to check with your insurer to find out which measures they recognize as suitable in the event of a claim.

For example, a suitable box could already be recognized as spatial separation.
