The charging cabinet was specially developed for the safe charging of lithium-ion batteries, with a focus on batteries for bicycles and scooters. It consists of a total of 12 separate lockers, which offer sufficient space to safely store a battery with charger and optionally a bicycle helmet. Each locker is equipped with an individually programmable combination lock or combination lock, which makes the locker ideal for travelers and commuters with electric bikes or scooters in particular. The charging locker offers these users a safe place to charge and store their batteries during their trips.

Dimensions and features of the LOX12 locker cabinet

The LOX12 charging locker weighs 400 kg and has external dimensions of 1950 x 1042 x 740 mm (H x W x D, excluding alarm). The total height with alarm module is 2100 mm. The power supply is 400 V, the maximum load per locker is 70 kg. The dimensions of a locker are 480 x 240 x 650 mm. The locker should be stored at an ambient temperature of 5-35 °C and a relative humidity of 30-70 %.

Technical features of the loading locker:

Fire-retardant materials, allowing enough time for further measures to be taken

The cabinet is made of fire-retardant materials, which means that it protects the batteries and other items stored in the cabinet for a considerable period of time in the event of a fire.

The cabinet itself is made of materials that have a fire resistance of 60 minutes.

A comprehensive detection system is available ex works, including a potential-free contact for transmission to the building management system

The cabinet is equipped with a smoke detector and a temperature detector that can register the first signs of a fire hazard. Connection to the fire alarm system or building management system is possible.

Optional aerosol fire suppression system provides additional safety

In the event of a fire, the loading cabinet can be fitted with an aerosol suppression system to help fight the fire and prevent it from spreading. The aerosol extends the operating time to 90 min

Functions of the lockers and integrated sockets

The 12 lockers are each equipped with a combination lock and offer enough space for a lithium-ion battery, a charger and a bicycle helmet or similar large items. Each locker also has two 230 V sockets with a maximum current of 16A to enable the batteries to be charged. The internal dimensions of the lockers are approx. 480 x 240 x 650 mm (HxWxD).

Adjustable leveling feet

The cabinet is equipped with adjustable feet so that it can be easily positioned to ensure optimum stability. There is also a removable (magnetic) plate at the bottom for extra flexibility

Active ventilation ensures safe operation of the system

To regulate heat development in the cabinet, the cabinet is equipped with active ventilation. This ensures that the batteries remain within safe temperature limits.

A pressure relief valve reduces the pressure in the event of a deflagration inside the cabinet

A pressure relief valve in the event of a battery explosion, opens in the event of a fire and reduces the energy accordingly.

Priority areas and operation in the event of smoke detection

The operation of the charging cabinet is designed to ensure the safety of users and the integrity of the stored batteries. The five priority areas include

  1. Ensuring safe operation
  2. Detection of smoke and fire
  3. Alerting in the event of danger
  4. Activation of aerosol fire suppression (if ordered)
  5. Control of lithium fires in the cabinet to prevent spreading

In the event of smoke detection, the charging cabinet performs a series of predefined steps to minimize potential hazards:

  • Triggering an audible and visual alarm to warn users.
  • Interruption of the battery charging process.
  • Deactivation of active ventilation to prevent further spread of smoke or fire.
  • Activation of the aerosol fire suppression system (optional) to contain the fire and ensure the safety of the surrounding area. The aerosol must also be ordered!
  • Overall, the charging cabinet offers a safe and reliable solution for charging and storing lithium-ion batteries for bikes and scooters, with its technical features and safety precautions minimizing potential risks.

General guidelines for battery storage

There are currently no legal regulations for the storage of lithium batteries / lithium-ion batteries. Only VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH issues general safety rules for damage prevention in its publication VdS 3103 : 2019-06 (03). It is advisable to clarify your requirements with your property insurance company in advance.

Kann ich Batterie-Ladeschränke im Freien / Lagerhalle / Garage aufstellen?

Standard-Sicherheitsschränke sind für den Innenbereich konzipiert, so dass eine Nutzung im Außenbereich nicht möglich ist.
Die Brandschutzplatten, die in den Schränken verbaut sind, enthalten Gips, der sehr viel Wasser enthält, welches sich bei Frost ausdehnt. Dadurch werden die Platten verformt. Es kann nicht mehr gewährleistet werden, dass ein solcher Schrank noch dicht ist oder einer Explosion standhalten kann.

Wann kann ich einen Akkuschrank ohne Feuerwiderstandsfähigkeit kaufen?

Wenn Sie bereits über einen geeigneten Raum verfügen, der baulich feuerbeständig ist, dann benötigen Sie nicht zwangsweise einen Sicherheitsschrank, der den Brand eindämmt.

Bitte vergessen Sie jedoch nicht, dass die Schäden durch einen Akkubrand immense und auch giftige Verunreinigungen mit sich bringen, deren Entsorgung schnell zu hohen Kosten führen kann.

Darüber hinaus können Sie möglicherweise bis zur endgültigen Behebung des Schadens – je nach Schadensort - nicht wie gewohnt weiterarbeiten.
