With fire-resistant padding and absorbent material made of textured glass fibers

The K470 battery box is equipped with specially developed, fire-resistant padding and absorbent material made of textured glass fibers. This not only allows the Li-ion batteries packed inside to be transported safely, but in the event of a fire the glass fibers also have a fire-retardant effect and absorb any escaping liquids, thus protecting the environment from danger. Additional extinguishing granules and extinguishing agents, such as Pyrobubbles from Genius, which are used with other battery transport containers, are not necessary with the K470 battery safe.

The ZARGES K470 battery box is supplied with specially manufactured CIRRUX cushions. The CIRRUX cushioning material made of textured glass fibers is ideal for transporting defective Li-ion batteries. On the one hand, it provides stability and, on the other, it does not react with any electrolytes that may leak from the batteries. In addition, it is neither flammable nor electrically conductive (which also applies to the other materials in the K470 battery box).

Special coating with intumescent fabric has a fire-retardant effect

The K470 battery box from Zarges is equipped with a very special internal coating that has an inhibiting effect in the event of a fire. This so-called intumescent fabric foams up when exposed to heat and then becomes like an insulating layer, so that even in the event of a fire, the outside of the Zarges box only heats up relatively slightly.

In addition to pure protection against the dangers of defective batteries, the battery safe also protects against the causes of many defective batteries - mechanical loads. Zarges AkkuSafe is suitable for transportation in accordance with SV 376 of the ADR and packing instructions P 908 and P911

All lithium-ion cells or batteries and lithium-metal cells or batteries that have been damaged and no longer comply with the applicable regulations according to their manual must comply with the provisions of Special Provision 376 (SV 376). This applies, for example, to cells that have leaked or degassed, have suffered external or mechanical damage or have been identified as defective for safety reasons or could no longer be diagnosed prior to transportation. These cells must then be packed in accordance with packaging instruction P 908, which is possible with the Zarges AkkuSafe. According to this directive, for example, it must be ensured that any electrolytes released are absorbed and a non-electrically conductive thermal insulation material must ensure that the environment is protected from dangerous heat development. If it is determined that the lithium-ion cells or batteries could be prone to rapid decomposition, dangerous reaction, flame formation, dangerous heat generation or dangerous emission of toxic, corrosive or flammable gases or vapours under normal transport conditions, these defective cells must then be transported in accordance with packaging instruction P 911. The Zarges AkkuSafe K470 can do just that.
